5 Little Bears (五只小熊) is a newly opened Taiwanese restaurant at Far East Plaza, relocated from Bugis Junction. I was here having lunch with Calvin one day. They serve popular dishes such as Braised Pork Belly Rice, Oyster Vermicelli and more.
We shared a plate of Salted Crispy Chicken ($4) served with some chilli powder at the side. The chicken was crispy, but I think the portion was too little for the price we were paying.
The Oyster Vermecill was good. There were a few medium sized oysters which is quite juicy. They were pretty generous with the mee sua and the addition of vinegar, garlic and chilli made it more delectable. The Oyster Vermicelli Set ($5.50) which comes with a choice of wintermelon tea/black tea/green tea.
The Braised Pork Belly Rice was my favourite. The braised pork belly arrived in small pieces and it has the right ratio of fat and lean meat. Together with some preserved vegetables and fragrant pearl rice grains, it just reminded me of those I had in Taiwan night market. A little sweet, a little salty, the braised pork rice is comfort food perfected. Each Braised Pork Rice Set ($5.90) also comes with a choice of wintermelon tea/black tea/green tea.
Eight Treasures Ice ($6) was an expensive dessert, with 8 different types of ingredients such as red bean, coconut jelly, green bean, corn, peanut, pearl jelly, yam and sweet potato.
I will come back for their set meals especially the braised pork rice. They do not charge GST & Service charge.
