One month ago, the floating platform at Marina Bay looks like this. But in one week’s time, we are going to see it transform into a beautiful stage where the whole nation will be there to celebrate Singapore’s birthday!
That’s right, on 9 August 2012, the nation is celebrating its 47th birthday. Something old, something new, is what spectators at the NDP 2012 will enjoy. While they will kepp some traditional elements that give the parade its pomp and pageantry, they will also be introducing new elements and special moments, to remind Singaporeans about the importance of defending this country that we love.

A key highlight of this year’s parade is the ‘Commitment to Defence (C2D) March’, a visual representation of the commitment of our national servicemen responding to the call of duty through their contributions to national defence.

NDP2012 will bring back the “Onward March”. This will be excuted by about 500 students from various uniformed groups as a symbolic representation of our youths carrying the hopes and dreams of our nation.

Here’s a video of the Nation’s March, performed by Key Appointment Holders for the NDP 2012 Parade & Ceremony committee.
This song is specially composed for this parade by Syawaludin Kassim, an NSman who served in the SAF Band. During the NDP show, all parade participants will march into the floating platform singing this song. They may not be the best singers, but they have definitely shown the Singapore Spirit. Way to go!
Thanks to Nuffnang and the NDP Committee, I will be going to the NDP Preview tomorrow! So stay tune for my updates!
