Are you a fan of chocolate?

If you are, be sure to visit Au Chocolat, a French-inspired haven for chocolates and tasty treats. Located at Marina Bay Sands, Au Chocolat is a unique restaurant and dining experience comprising of two parts, Bistro and Confiserie.

The Bistro offers a delightfully wide selection of an all-day breakfast menu, salads, pastas, tasty roasted meats, and handmade savoury and sweet crepes, alongside a scrumptious snack menu to allay the munchies.

Helming the kitchen of Au Chocolat is Chef Elvin Chew. Elvin’s culinary style has always been shaped and intrigued by his interest in the French culture. If you have been to The Tastings Room, you may find the dishes here familiar because Elvin used to work as the Executive Chef at The Tastings Room. Elvin believes in the style of simplicity while allowing the characteristics and natural flavours of each ingredient to express themselves and shine through his creations.

Dinner started with Truffle Fries ($15) which are addictive! Strips of crispy potatoes are drizzled with fragrant white truffle oil and seasoned with truffle sea salt, served with mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. The truffle flavor truly packs a punch in this dish. If you are not a fan of truffle fries, there is also original flavour and sweet potato fries.

We also had a pot of Mushroom Bites ($14) where the mushroom are simmered in red wine sauce and paired with freshly baked bread. The red wine gives this mushroom stew a delicious rich and tasty gravy.

Au Chocolat serves all day breakfast menu such as fluffy pancakes, toast, crêpes and quiches. Smoked Salmon Crepes ($20) use smoked Norwegian salmon with rich cream cheese sauce. The crunchy Granny Smith apples gave the dish a refreshing touch.

Because Au Chocolat focuses on chocolate, Chef Elvin also came up with chocolate inspired dishes. One of which is the ever-popular Au Chocolat Benedict ($18).
Perfectly poached eggs atop thick slices of bacon, spinach and tomatoes on traditional English muffins is a classic and well-loved favourite among brunch-goers. What is unique is the chef’s own creation of hollandaise sauce infused with red wine and dark chocolate, this is one dish that will leave you yearning for more!

Au Chocolat’s meat selections are specifically dedicated to indulgent meat lovers and certain to satisfy diners with larger appetites.

Sink your teeth in Au Chocolat’s country-style signature Duck Confit ($27). The pan roasted duck thigh is served with potato mash, a white wine poached pear and topped off with a tangy chocolate orange sauce. The rich flavours from the thick creamy sauce complemented with every bite.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Boef Bourguignon ($26). Tender beef cheek is slow cooked with bacon, carrots & mushrooms in veal stock & red wine.

Don’t forget to leave some stomach space for Au Chocolat’s Chocolate Cake ($18). This is the biggest chocolate cake I have every seen. Six layers of rich, dark chocolate cake is enrobed in premium dark chocolate ganache and served with a scoop of premium vanilla gelato. A perfect choice.

Quench your thirst by selecting from an impressive list of beverages, ranging from a delicately brewed pot of the finest tea or the uniquely chocolate-blended drinks such as the Au Chocolat Fudge Freeze ($12). Rich and creamy chocolate fudge is topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.

On warm days, head to the Gelato Counter, which boasts 24 tantalising flavours to choose from.

Very interesting dishes, I would say. And it is one of the more affordable restaurants in Marina Bay Sands. I am also attracted to the wide array of desserts at the Confiserie.
