I had the privilege to be invited by ION to experience the life of an ION insider to visit Salt Grill & Sky Bar for a high tea tasting on Monday. It’s one-of-a-kind experience even before we enter the restaurant. From a designated concierge reception within the iconic ION Orchard, we were ushered into a private, high-speed elevator that takes us up directly to the restaurant which is located on the 55th floor.
Upon entering, we were greeted with the magnificent expanse of the main dining room that exudes chic-modernity with full glass floor-to-ceiling windows, boasting a stunning landscape of the city skyline from the highest point on Orchard Road. They have even included telescopes up the ramp between the restaurant and bar to give you a close up view of the city!
We had their new three-tiered Afternoon Platter together with a cup of cappuccino (you can choose tea if you like). The first tier had a range of sweets such as Chocolate & jam lamington, Raspberry macaron, Mini orange tart.
The second tier which consisted of savoury items was our favourite – Smoked salmon, cucumber, chive, crème cheese on rye, Coronation chicken sandwich, and Ham & turkey Croque Madame.
Third tier is back to sweets again including Chocolate delice, Passionfruit Jelly, Almond & cranberry Florentines. Chocolate & jam lamington was easily the best among all the sweet items I have tried.
Not forgetting the plain scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. The Afternoon Platter is priced at $30++ per person, inclusive of a tea or coffee and is available from 2pm to 6pm daily.
