If your workplace is in Tanjong Pagar or have passed by Tanjong Pagar lately, you would have seen the long queue at Keisuke Tonkotsu King in Orchid Hotel.

Only the pork bone broth with Original, Black Spicy & Red Spicy is served, but you can customize your ramen by filling up the order sheet to define the soup base, strength of broth, noodle texture, ingredients (flavoured egg, seaweed, or both) and amount of chicken oil.

I enjoyed my Original Tonkotsu Ramen ($14.80) with spring onion, black fungus, fatty chashuu, seaweed and a perfectly soft-boiled egg. While waiting for the ramen, you can grind some sesame seeds and add it into the soup for extra fragrance.
The broth was hearty and flavoursome and the noodles were curly springy, which paired well with the soup. The egg was perfect, it had the right texture and the yolk was runny. The boy had Black spicy tonkotsu ramen which tasted better because of the peppercorns.
The eatery only has 20 seats, hence you have to wait if you are there for lunch or dinner. It is a place where you eat and go and there may be chances that you have to share table with strangers. If you were in the queue, you can enjoy their cold japanese barley tea. But don’t worry, service was brisk!
Note: only cash is accepted.
