Royal Pavilion

Finally! Our wedding photos for dinner is ready! You have probably seen our wedding in the day where we went wild singing and dancing and eating with our friends. The initial plan was to do everything in the day but halfway through our planning process, we reckoned that a dinner banquet will be more appropriate for our families and relatives. We went around sourcing for a good dinner banquet location, but nothing seems to catch our eye until Minru told me that Royal Pavilion is planning to start doing wedding banquet. PERFECT! Because I have been to the restaurant a few times and I am so in love with their decor and the delicious food by Executive Chef Chung Ho Shi.

Located on the ground floor of Park Regis Singapore, Royal Pavilion is a contemporary dining venue serving modern and timeless Cantonese creations. The intricate chandelier statement pieces and bespoke cloud-motif wall panels within the luxurious looking restaurant are so gorgeous, making my dinner banquet looks grand. We brought our own floral centrepieces for the dining tables & reception table which we used during the day, and it was enough to decorate the tables.

Because it was their first wedding banquet, we had a few meetings to set our expectations right. But the owner Catherine is not new to wedding planning, so all was settled very quickly as she knew what was needed for a dinner banquet. I wanted a very intimate session with only about 10 tables, which was perfect for the restaurant. There is a VVIP room where we had our tea ceremony and the main dinner table with our closer family members. Besides that VVIP room, we didn’t make use of the other private rooms, but that can be an option as well for guests who prefer some privacy. I specifically didn’t want a stage, and requested for no cake cutting nor champagne fountain. I like it that I can go to table by table to chat with my guests. My cousin who hosted my wedding made us play some games, so we roam around the restaurant easily. Yes, sound system and cordless mike is provided.

Our Royal Pavilion Combination includes Marinated Jelly Fish with Spring Onion, Crispy Spring Roll, Royal Smoked Duck, Egg Fu Yong and Fresh Prawn Salad. I specially requested to include Royal Smoked Duck because I am really in love with it. The smoked crispy skin carries the aroma of the rich lychee wood and leaves that are used and enhances a pleasantly moist and flavoursome red meat without overpowering any palates. Very juicy and tender meat!

Saying no to shark’s fin soup, it was replaced with Braised Fish Maw Soup with Dried Seafood & Conpoy. It was thick and gooey with generous amount of dried seafood and conpoy.

Roasted Crispy Chicken with Golden Dried Garlic was like chicken done suckling pig style, with the wafer-thin crispy skin and the moist meat underneath. There was practically no fat in our half chicken, and the crispy garlic partnered the meat beautifully. Steamed Patin Fish with Spicy Yellow Bean Sauce is also excellent. The freshwater catch has no trace of muddiness, which will please most people I expect. Plus the spicy yellow bean sauce is tangy with a mild sweetness.

Other popular dish includes Stir-Fried King Prawn with Oatmeal, a generous scattering of aromatic, crispy cereal is so moreish we scoop it up by the spoonful and marvel at how light and how greaseless it is. Other dishes we had in the banquet is Stewed Mixed Vegetables topped with Winter Melon served in Light Sauce and Braised E-Fu Noodle with Bean Sprouts & Yellow Chives.

Ending the night with Chilled Sea Coconut with Red Dates Sweet Soup. For a lot of couples, they probably didn’t have time to sit down and eat the banquet food. But because I had such a cozy session like a family gathering of sorts, I had the time to sit down and try every single dish. And our photographer Stephen also had time to take some nice shots of us and the food!
