Stranger’s Reunion: The Best Coffee Can Be Found Here

Housed in a row of shophouses with cafes along Kampong Bahru Road, two-time national barista champion Ryan Tan fulfills one of his dreams by opening his own cafe — Stranger’s Reunion.
Within 2 weeks, I visited this cafe twice. The first time was with the bloggers on a Saturday morning. We wanted “the best coffee” in the cafe and Ryan recommended Magic ($4.90) which is a double ristretto topped with foamed milk.
I was totally blown away by it. It was stronger than the normal latte and the form and texture was so good. I drank finish the entire coffee and then realised I didn’t take a photo of it beforehand. So when I sat down in front of my computer, wanting to blog about this cafe, I thought to myself,”What is a cafe without coffee?”
So two weeks later, I was in Our Korner for Sunday lunch and dragged the boyfriend there for coffee and shared a red velvet cupcake. Crazy isn’t it? All for good coffee and good photos!
Not a very extensive menu here, but expect decent croissants and other pastries, plus more sinful cranberry rum muffins, generously frosted chocolate whisky cake and red-velvet cupcakes.
The Red Velvet Cupcake ($4) could have been softer. However, the Cream Cheese frosting on top was extremely delicious.
The friends had Salami ($9.50) sandwich which was ciabatta wrapped with salami, mild cheedar cheese, marinated grilled capsicum and fresh oregano.
An interesting combination is the Roast Pork Baguette ($9.50) which comes with chinese roast pork, cucumber, lightly pickled carrot & diakon, fresh chilli and coriander. The crispy skin from the roast pork goes well with the bread and coriander.
I am a waffle fan and I enjoyed my Waffles with home made yogurt and fresh fruits ($8) very much. It was crispy on the outside, but light and fluffy within. Topped it with some yogurt and fruits, the sourish yogurt added a different flavour to the waffle.
Stranger’s Reunion also does artisan Greek yogurt. Melissa ordered this that was topped with homemade muesli and fruits ($6).
Overall, it was a nice cozy cafe with good coffee. WiFi access completes the picture. Here’s a photo with Beatrice, Melissa, Gabby and Hui Wen!
