Maureen's Boyfriend Proposing to her.

I am getting married next year.

It’s actually scary thinking about it because people always say 婚姻是爱情的坟墓. Actually, I have been happily engaged since last May (read about my proposal here) and the word “wedding” hasn’t been in my mind. Reality only sinks in when I realized that I am already 28 years old (I thought I was still 24 years old) and my house will be ready by 2016. I need to get married next year. So that I won’t be so hard on cash when renovation and wedding comes too close together.

I am just like an aimless housefly, totally clueless what I should do now. We didn’t want to have a wedding banquet. Maybe a ROM party somewhere. One moment I was looking at pre wedding photoshoot, another moment we were discussing the dates, then next moment I am looking at venue. AIYO, like so many things to prepare and don’t know where to begin.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE (as of now):

1. We started with finding an auspicious date. Got a few recommendations and went ahead with Master David Tong from CMG Consulting. Wahbiang, he has a busy schedule lah! I approached him in end of January and only managed to get a slot in mid March. Aiyo! But never mind, good things are worth waiting for! So when the dates are settled, then all other things can proceed.

2. I have also went around looking for pre wedding photographers which I plan to do it early next year. Thanks to my Instagram post, I have got many good recommendations and I have looked through every single portfolios. I want to have my pre-wedding photoshoot overseas. Which country? I don’t know yet but I prefer nature. Cutesy shots are out. Wedding is once in a lifetime so I don’t mind spending a bit on this. I own a camera myself and sometimes I shoot models / couples as well. So I have my own expectations for my pre wedding. If it is something which I can shoot using my camera, why should I pay so much money to hire a wedding photographer right? Haven’t decided on any so if you have any recommendations or if you are a wedding photographer, drop me any email misstamchiak@gmail.com

3. After thinking about the wedding photo shoot, it is about venue. My ideal wedding is a garden wedding or wedding by the beach. But hor, Singapore is abit hot leh… so I am still thinking of other options. Most importantly, FOOD MUST BE GOOD. How can a food blogger serves lousy food on her wedding day right???

Since I am sourcing for a wedding location and Valentine’s Day is coming, I have listed some of the romantic places in Singapore for my and your consideration. This may not be the most extensive list, but at least I hope it gives you an idea where to bring your partner for a romantic date. Or if you are like me, planning for a wedding, can consider also lah! Of course all the hotels in Singapore are nice, but I am just looking for some other more unique venues for my wedding consideration.
