A Twisted Tale yet Untold

If you think you know Snow White
You have not heard this tale before
Cause unlike the one you’ve always known
This story’s set in Singapore
A woman of white with hair so black
A woman so dark with hair of white
Both unaware of the other one
Oblivious to each other’s plight
The girl of white, loved by many
Still wept every night before bed
For in her one-room flat she sleeps
So days she loved, the nights she dread
She prayed to God every single night
That she may one day find a man
But more than that she wished for wealth
And a bungalow, private land
The woman so dark, scorned by many
Her hardened heart left in the cold
Yet her beauty gave her needed peace
Though it did fade as she grew old
With Woffles Wu she tried to live
But botox had its share of trials
And so she made a vow to die
Until her beauty once more found
Then the woman of dark finally saw
The chance to steal the life adorned
Through wise words of her mirror true
And thus a plan began to form
By the bite of an unknown fruit
The girl so white must choke to death
Then only will the woman’s fate renew
For girl’s beauty then be in her breath
So did it arrive, that fateful day
When the girl of white did hear
A knock upon her lonely gates
And saw the dark lady appear
With false offering of friendship
Came too of pure envy and hate
Still the one of white could not resist
But take a bite of the other’s fate
The woman of dark had promised her
A life of wealth and private property
That with a bite of the prickly fruit
So will it end her poverty
How does it taste, how does it taste?
The other asked, fate durian made
With a sigh the girl’s ghost replied
It tastes so red, it tastes so red
