Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood: Shop Front

Casuarina Road is where I go for late night prata because it is so near to home. But just the other day when I walked pass, I then realized Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood is also along the same stretch (right at the other end). So I brought my whole family here to celebrate my Grandfather’s birthday.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood's Prawn Paste Chicken Wings (Har Cheong Gai)

Taking up two unit spaces, it was very crowded on weekends. They have a rather extensive list of cze char dishes but with no price listed. We booked the first seating, so we were supposed to finish our dinner by 8 plus.

They were many people raving about their Prawn Paste Chicken Wings (Har Cheong Gai) so we gave it a try too. Served pipping hot, the prawn paste marinade is good. It is so crispy on the outside, yet very juicy on the inside.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood's la la clams

The la la clams were bigger than many other restaurants and were quite meaty. They are cooked with a tangy and mild spicy gravy, which makes it really appetizing and further enhance the freshness of the clams.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood's Hong Kong-style steamed soon hock

The Hong Kong-style steamed soon hock is not bad too. Steamed till perfection, the flesh is smooth and fresh with no muddy taste. The soy sauce complemented the fish beautifully without overpowering its natural sweetness.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood's Jing Du Pai Gu (Kyoto Pork Ribs)

Jing Du Pai Gu (Kyoto Pork Ribs) offers tender and bouncy ribs with caramelized sugar to give it the desired sweetness and a mild tang to brighten the dish with a bit of zest.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood's Mai Cai

Tender mai cai which has good wok hei.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood Mee Sua

To celebrate Grandpa’s birthday, we also ordered a huge plate of mee sua. I like it that the noodles do not clump together and fried with generous amount of prawns, squid, beansprouts and quail eggs.

Their chilli crabs seems to be quite popular, unfortunately crabs are not my family’s favourites. But I don’t mind coming back to try their chilli crabs.

Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood: Maureen and her Grandpa

Happy birthday to the most important man in my life. 🙂
