Hello world! Time for another Europe post. So after Germany and Holland, we arrived at Bruges, one of Belgium’s most beautiful cities.

Known as the Venice of the North, Bruges is a well-preserved city where the entire historic center has been recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.

This is a very quiet but lovely town which has a wide range of museums, churches, historical buildings and canals and streets that can be explored by boat, foot or horse.

The Old St. John’s hospital houses the world famous Hans Memling Museum on the River Dijver.

You will see alot of my face instead of the boy’s face because it was too cold and I just want to hide my hands in my pocket.

Restaurants are not always cheap or wonderful, although mussels and frites or fricadellen, frites with mayonnaise are outstanding here.

We had our dinner at Le Panier D’or where we had ome-made shrimp croquettes, cod fish in some zap pa lang creamy sauce also known as the Flemish Way and Waffle topped with sugar icing.

With our friends! This is probably our only group shot. We had so much fun with them!

The next day, we went to Brussels. There were soooo many shops selling waffles! I went crazy just looking at it! Plain waffles cost only 1 Euro each, so cheap! But frankly hor, I prefer the waffles back in Singapore. Perhaps it is more buttery and softer on the inside, the ones I had in Brussels were way too crispy and not fragrant enough.

By the way, Manneken Pis is a famous Brussels landmark. It is a small bronze fountain sculpture depicting a naked little boy urinating into the fountain’s basin. The famous statue is located at the junction of Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat and Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat.

Brussels has a poor reputation for its weather. But surprisingly, it has the best weather during my Europe trip. Blue sky and weather was cooling, not freezing cold. It’s also a lovely sight to see the pretty flowers.

We didn’t spend much time in Belgium. I was hoping to explore the place more. But looks like I must come back again. So what’s for next week? Stay tune to my Paris post! HAPPY SATURDAY!
