Greyhound Cafe (Thailand) Seatings

This year has been a year of travelling. I have been to the beautiful Club Med Phuket, to the cultural Bama, and I have also visited Bangkok. I am really slow in this. I went Bangkok in April, but it is only now that I start to blog about it. What motivates me? Because I am going Bangkok again next week. So I better blog about my first Bangkok trip for this year before the next one arrives.

When I told my friends I am going Bangkok, majority of their replies was “You going there to shop and eat right!” Not always right lah, because there are so many things to do in Bangkok! These few weeks, I will be blogging about my wonderful experience in Thailand. But before that, I must introduce this lovely restaurant to you — Greyhound Cafe.

Run by, and adjacent to, the hip Thai fashion store, Greyhound, this chain retains its quirky minimalist style, handwritten menus and tailor-made crockery. The cafe’ offers delicious Thai and fusion Asian style menus. It is definitely the place to enjoy fine food while chat and relax with good companies.

Greyhound Cafe's French Onion Soup

It was our first night in Bangkok. Once we have arrived, we were brought to Greyhound Cafe. You should have imagined how hungry we were, we practically ordered everything in the menu.

French Onion Soup (120 Baht) comes with french bread and melted cheese.

Greyhound Cafe's Prawn Bisque with fresh cream

We also had Prawn Bisque with fresh cream (130 Baht).

Greyhound Cafe Fresh Lasagna Salad

*MUST TRY*

Our favourite salad in the restaurant was Fresh Lasagna Salad (170 Baht) where layers of crispy romaines leaves, olives, tomatoes and parmesan was served with thick tomato dressing. Each ingredient speaks for itself in this dish. Very refreshing!

Greyhound Cafe's Grilled Vegetables Salad with Pesto Sauce

The Grilled Vegetables Salad with Pesto Sauce (170 Baht) was mixed with zucchini, capsicums, tomatoes, cucumbers and button mushrooms. There were too many strong flavours in the dish, each trying to snatch each other’s lime light.

Greyhound Cafe's Calamari Fritti

We started our appetizers with Calamari Fritti (130 Baht) which is deep fried squid rings with soft batter, served with tartar sauce.

Greyhound Cafe's Salmon Sashimi in spicy hot sauce

There is also Salmon Sashimi in spicy hot sauce (190 Baht). I have to admit that the restaurant is very good with their sauces. All the sauces that we have tried here gave a punch to the dish.

Greyhound Cafe's Crispy sweet corn

Crispy sweet corn (160 Baht) with crab meat was served with thai sweet sauce. Frankly, there is too much starch powder in it.

Greyhound Cafe's Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings

*MUST TRY*

Must order Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings (110 Baht). These mini chicken wings are marinated with fish sauce and deep fried till golden brown. Don’t look down on these skinny chicken wings okay, these kampong chicken wings taste SUPERB!

Greyhound Cafe's Spaghetti with Crab Meat in prawn cream sauce

Someone in the table ordered Spaghetti with Crab Meat in prawn cream sauce (220 Baht). The pasta is sprinkled with shrimp roe and is very rich.

Greyhound Cafe's Complicated Noodles

*MUST TRY*

If you have been a follower of my blog, you will realize that I have been mentioning about Complicated Noodles (Read here and here) and even tried to remake it. Well, the creator of this Complicated Noodles (150 Baht) is Greyhound Cafe! I was totally blown away by it when I first tasted it.

Greyhound Cafe: Making Complicated Noodle

So it is made of fresh lettuce leaves, minced pork sauce, green chilli sauce, noodle sheet. You have to first put some lettuce leaves on hand, place a noodle sheet, then add minced pork sauce. Finally add the green chilli sauce and coriander leaves. Viola! It is ready to be eaten! Complicated, isn’t it?

Greyhound Cafe's Braised Beef in dry version

We also tried Noodle with Braised Beef in dry version (140 Baht). As you can see, we are truly hungry girls! The rice noodles came with very tender braised beef, served with bush bean, dried shrimp, pork lard and chilli sauce. Alternatively, you can choose the soup version.

Greyhound Cafe's Grilled Salmon Steak on Green Bed

My main was Grilled Salmon Steak on Green Bed (420 Baht) which came with black olive and anchovy dressing.

Greyhound Cafe's Thai Tea Granita

Come Thailand must drink Thai Tea! Here’s Thai Tea Granita (100 Baht), cheers!

Greyhound Cafe graffiti

Look at the pretty walls in the cafe! Greyhound Cafe is designed with a uniquely elegance personality to give the restaurant a bit of spice. It is modern and stylish atmosphere yet easy and welcoming.

By now, you should be drowned by all the food pics in this post. It was 12 dishes altogether, shared among 6 ladies. And guess what, we cleared everything in 1 hour! Trust me, it didn’t feel that much that day! But as I blogged about it now, I am amazed myself.

If you are heading to Bangkok soon and is looking for a nice cafe with good food, this is the place you should go. To help you with your ordering, here are the 3 must-try dishes (in my opinion):

1. Fresh Lasagna Salad
2. Complicated Noodle
3. Greyhound Famous Fried Chicken Wings

Why Greyhound Cafe no open in Singapore!
