Ok, I finally bought an oven!

I do have an oven at home that comes with the stove. My aunty and I used to do a lot of baking when I was young but one day, she spilled the whole bowl of kaya in the oven and it was spoilt. It wasn’t economical to replace the entire stove/oven, so we stopped baking for a long time.

The baking temptation started again last year when I started doing my steamed cakes such as banana cake, corn cake, pandan kaya cake etc. Then I told everyone I wanted to buy an oven soon. But the plan was postponed time and again because there wasn’t a real need for one.

This time round, I was left with 7 days of annual leave to clear by the end of August. I was wondering how should I spend my 7 days of annual leave. To learn baking? Photography? Barista? Or travelling? While I was surfing the net looking at various cooking schools, there was a upcoming baking class and there was only LAST slot left. So I decided, this is it, I am so going to learn baking. It is a 4 days foundation in baking class, which is just nice for me! As to which baking school I go to, I will keep it as a secret first until I complete the class.

So I began surfing net to read up some recommendations for oven. Then I consulted Jacob and Chloe from Patisserie Framboise for some tips when buying oven. I also consulted my baking teacher for some recommendations.

And the best deal? The boy decided to sponsor my oven as my anniversary present! *Thank you baby!*

So today, all my lovely friends Alvin, Lobster, Celes and Rae accompanied me to buy my oven. My initial plan was to go Geylang because Chloe told me there is a row of shops selling oven. But we were in town and I was too lazy. So we ended up going to Court, Best Denki and Takashimaya. And I got this oven from Tefal!

As what Celes told me, baking is like photography. It is not all about the equipment, the most important factor is the baker. She is right, I am so going to conquer baking and be the next famous baker in Singapore! 😀
