Marriott Cafe: freshest selection of oysters, snow crabs, crayfish and prawns
Marriott Cafe's snow crabs

Mention Marriott Hotel and the first thing that comes to my mind is the dim sum at Wan Hao. Ok I am feeling guilty about it because I didn’t have the chance to try other F&B offerings within the hotel. So when the BiTES team wanted to do a feature of me at Marriott Cafe, I was so looking forward to it!

Marriott Cafe underwent renovation about 2 years ago and now it has a fresh, contemporary feel with an open kitchen, and several live cooking stations allowing chefs to prepare all orders a la minute.

When you are having buffet, what is the first station you will go to? For my boyfriend, it is always the sashimi counter. For me, it is usually the seafood station with the freshest selection of oysters, snow crabs, crayfish and prawns (they have one of the most extensive salad bar but I am not very green).

Then, I moved on to indulge in some piping hot laksa cooked à la minute upon request. There are also renowned local dishes such as the Singapore Chilli Crab, Chicken Rice and succulent roasts. And the melt in your mouth beef cheek braised in red wine. What impressed me more is, Executive Sous Chef Matthew Van Der Zwan is actually cutting up the sio bak and he looks so experienced doing it that I just stood there in awe.

Marriott Cafe: Crispy Pork Saddle with Pancetta Prune and Mixed Herbs, Slow Roasted Prime Ribs
Marriott Cafe's pork saddle

At the Beech Oven Station, there is an extensive array of premium meat dishes such as Crispy Pork Saddle with Pancetta Prune and Mixed Herbs, Slow Roasted Prime Ribs and other roasted delights cooked to perfection. Must try the pork saddle which has a good proportion of fat and lean with crunchy, crispy finish.

Another favourite of mine is the squid ink pasta cooked a la minute. Tender but still firm to the bite, the al dente pasta is tossed abundantly with tomato sauce.

For those with a sweet tooth, the delectable cakes, pastries and ice creams make for pure palate pleasers after a satisfying meal. Must try the super moist Sticky Date Pudding, I pair mine with a scoop of ice cream.
