To be honest, I don’t usually do food delivery because the waiting time is crazy. But when I tried Deliveroo recently, I am very impressed because the average waiting time is only 32 minutes and the delivery guys are very friendly!

NORTH

Hooked on Heads' Curry Fish Head on Deliveroo

Hooked on Heads
Book now: https://deliveroo.com.sg/menu/singapore/upper-thomson-road/hooekd-on-head

If you are dining in Hooked on Heads, you will see that their fish head is present on most tables. But I decided to order Deliveroo and skip the waiting queue.

The signature curry fish head ($28 for half head) is one of the best in Singapore. Prepared in peranakan style, the fish is fresh and the curry is so thick and creamy. If you have more stomach space, go for their prawn paste chicken ($13) and special nonya mee siam ($6) as well.

Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar's Crust Supreme on Deliveroo

Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar

Movie night at home? Just grab some pizzas from Crust Gourmet Pizza Bar! The pizzas come in rectangular shape, which makes sharing easier. Crust Supreme ($23) certainly gets our vote – featuring honey baked ham, pepperoni, Italian sausage, button mushrooms, green peppers, Spanish onions, pineapple & kalamata olives. The Seafood Pizza ($23) is another of our favourites, filled with marinated tiger prawns, sun-dried tomatoes, spring onions, roasted red peppers, feta cheese, garnished with fresh mixed herbs & lemon.

Old School Delights' Mee Siam on Deliveroo

Old School Delights

Old School Delights is about re-living culinary memories of Singapore’s past through authentic recipes handed down through generations. If there is one dish that you must try in this cafe, be sure to try their signature Old School Heritage Mee Siam ($6.30). Using a 30-year-old recipe comprising of a secret blend of 11 fresh grounded spices, the mee siam is accompanied by half hard boiled egg, and tau pok (beancurd). The gravy was thick and robust, a burst of a little spicy, sour and sweetness in every mouthful.

Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh on Deliveroo

Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh

9 MINUTES. That’s how long it takes for Rong Cheng Bak Kut Teh to reach my house after ordering from Deliveroo. Impressive, isn’t it?

Rong Cheng has been faithfully serving Singaporeans with piping hot bowls of traditional Teochew Bak Kut Teh since 1976. Do you know, they are the FIRST to introduce loin ribs (dragon ribs), the 16 largest rib bones in a pig. One loin ribs can give you a variety of meat textures – from the firmer meat to the fatty side.

The bak kut teh soup is prepared in the most traitional teochew way – cooking the fresh pork ribs in water with just garlic and pepper. This clear soup is medium bodied and peppery, and you can taste the sweetness of the meat with garlic. It came piping hot and I also ordered some zichar dishes to go along with the soup.

EAST

Chicken Legend's regular set on Deliveroo

Chicken Legend

We have eaten the usual soup stocks like chicken and ma la. But how about coconut steamboat? At Chicken Legend, they serve steamboat using coconut water. Yes, it is 100% coconut water without any MSG or sweetener.

We ordered a regular set ($29) for a late dinner which consists of kampung chicken cubes, prawns, meat balls etc. The soup has already been heated up, so all you have to do is to pour it into the pot and add ingredients to boil. The soup is naturally sweet and becomes more tasty after adding in the ingredients. I am surprised that they use kampong chicken which is so tender. They also make their own soy sauce with 10 different herbs.

Onya Sayang's Babi Pongteh on Deliveroo
Onya Sayang's Assam Fish on Deliveroo
Onya Sayang's Chap Chye on Deliveroo

Onya Sayang
Order now: https://deliveroo.com.sg/menu/singapore/tampines-central/onya-sayang-at-tampines-mall

O’nya Sayang serves affordable Peranakan food in Peranakan Square. But you know lah, Paya Lebar is especially crowded after work hours. If you are too lazy to head there for dinner, just order online from Deliveroo and get it delivered to your doorstep!

I didn’t expect my favourite dish would be Babi Pongteh ($13.90) because the lighter colour looks too unassuming. But the fermented bean paste was specially imported from Malacca. The flavours are subtle and the pork belly melted in my mouth. Assam Fish ($16.90) had enough kick, but still able to eat it without perspiring. I love the Chap Chye ($10.90) which was again cooked using fermented bean paste imported from Malacca. It has a hint of sweetness and the vegetables are stewed till very soft.

Coffee Nowhere
Book now: https://deliveroo.com.sg/menu/singapore/west-coast/coffee-nowhere

Pizza Nowhere ($19.80) features crispy thin pizza skin with melted cheddar and mozzarella cheese blend, topped with slices of smoked duck and pieces of lychee. Quite an interesting combination, the savoury meat was balanced with sweet lychee. We like the Burger Nowhere ($14.80). It is a substantial burger with juicy beef patty, sliced tomato, cheese, lettuce, caramelised onion, fried egg, served with french fries and salad. That is a lot of burger for the price and all of it is good. Upon delivery, the patty remains juicy and the fried egg completes everything. Don’t forget to pair your meal with a good cup of coffee!

Daisy Dream Kitchen on Deliveroo

Daisy Dream Kitchen
Book now: https://deliveroo.com.sg/menu/singapore/west-coast/daisy-dream-kitchen

Located in West Coast, Daisy’s Dream Kitchen is a family-run restaurant serving home-cooked Peranakan fare. Daisy grew up in a kampong surrounded by Peranakan, so she learnt her recipes from the neighbours. Daisy’s Ngoh Hiang ($12) which is very highly raved. These Ngoh Hiang balls are made of pork, prawn, onion and water chestnut deliciously rolled with beancurd skin and fried golden brown. They are very juicy and crunchy, love the chilli dipping sauce that goes with it.

A must have in any Peranakan feast is the Babi Buah Keluak ($16). The soft flesh of the buah keluak nut is carefully extracted and mixed with minced pork and Daisy’s special seasoning, before being re-stuffed into the nut again. The stuffed nut is then cooked with soft-bone pork and Daisy’s special rempah, a perfect combination that gives the dish a mouth-watering gravy. Preparing this dish may be laborious and time consuming, but its exquisite flavours make it all worthwhile.
