Abang Western Power – Muslim-Owned Stall Sells Sloppy Burgers, Fish & Chips Under $10 in Ang Mo Kio Coffee Shop

Growing up, the joys of hulking down on freshly-grilled burgers in the kopitiam after school had always been the highlight of my day. So imagine my joy when I found this new Western stall in Ang Mo Kio, which serves nostalgia-evoking reasonably-priced grub.

Proudly Muslim-owned, Abang Western Power serves Western classics such as burgers, grills, snacks and more.

The stall has an extensive menu that promises dishes with an Asian twist such as a spicy Korean-style double patty burger.

The staff grills each patty till its edges are nicely charred. The brioche buns are well-buttered and slathered with their special sauce.

After a 15 minute wait, I tucked into their signature Abang Ol Skool Double Patty Beef Burger ($9.20) with a side of fries. Sandwiched between two fluffy buttery brioche buns were juicy house-made premium beef patties, melted cheese, and soft and sweet caramelised onions.

If you’re craving for seafood, go for the UK-Style Battered Fish & Chips ($7.80) which comes with two sides of your choice. I chose French fries and coleslaw to go with the gigantic slab of fish. I was pleasantly surprised by the firmness of the fresh fish that was encased in a thin crisp batter. My only gripe would be that it was a tad too salty.

With its wallet-friendly Western delights, Abang Western Power is set to become a really hot spot in Ang Mo Kio!
