Afterwit was inspired by an afterthought of pairing Mexican-influenced fare with an indie café experience. This café is owned by the same guys behind Working Title and The Mad Sailors. The interior is decorated with a vibrant Mexican flair, using bold colours and rustic furnishings.

From quesadillas to tortilla pizzas, tacos, and burritos, this is as close as we could get to experience a Mexican fare. On weekdays, you can look forward to their Locos Lunch that’s available from 12pm to 3pm, excluding public holidays.

Amigo Lunch ($13) allows you to choose any standard taco or burrito originally priced at $16 or $17, and it comes with your choice of canned drink. We went for Lime Butter Crab Tacos. The crispy tacos are prepared with 6 flour tortillas topped with freshly made pico de gallo (Mexican salsa), guacamole, purple cabbage slaw, and sour cream. The mud crab that’s infused with lime butter gives a tangy taste with every bite, with a slightly spicy finish. This refreshing dish makes a great lunch!

Compadre Lunch ($15), on the other hand, allows you to choose any premium taco or burrito originally priced at $18 or $19, and it also comes with your choice of canned drink. Unfortunately, beef biryani burrito and nasi lemak burrito were not available on the day of our visit, so we had their signature Double Chilli Cheeseburger Burrito.

Enveloped within the wrap are beef patties, caramelized onions, and chipotle sauce among guacamole, Mexican-style rice, mozzarella, fresh salsa, and whole black beans. Each mouthful gives a burst of flavours and textures. The fillings are so generous that we felt the burrito is definitely made for hearty diners.

We really enjoyed the tacos, and the relaxing vacation vibe that the café exudes. We are planning a return visit just to try their interesting nasi lemak burrito and beef biryani burrito. It’s a great after-work hangout, especially for those with a penchant for spicy flavours. They also offer punchy mocktails and house-made dessert tacos to end your night on a sweet note. There’s wifi available here too!
