Aroma Truffle’s Truffle-Infused Durian Snowskin Mooncakes are Back!

We all know that Aroma Truffle & Co. is well known for their truffle potato chips. Now if I combine truffe with durian, and add it into mooncakes… how will it taste?

This Mid-Autumn Festival, Aroma Truffle & Co. has brought back their extremely well-received Truffle Durian Snowskin Mooncake. I love it because it brings together two of the most fragrant things I love – DURIAN and TRUFFLE!

Each truffle-infused durian mooncake is dusted with 24k gold and is encased in a mochi-like snow skin. While traditional snow skin is commonly made with floury textured glutinous rice flour, which usually lacks flavour and does not have a chewy texture. Aroma Truffle’s snow skin is made according to a Japanese mochi recipe. You will be pleasantly surprised by its chewy texture which is pleasant and lightly sweet.

The mooncakes not only have the finest Italian Black Winter Truffles infused in them, they are stuffed with the best durian variety – Musang King or Mao Shan Wang.

To be honest, I had doubts about the mooncake before tasting it. But Aroma Truffle has been selling truffle-infused mooncake for the past 3 years and they are always sold out early really early. So, needless to say, I was really curious about how it would taste!

The highlight this year is definitely the beautiful Frosty Truffle Mooncake. Expect a delicately soft snowskin wrapped around a rich and creamy filling made with fresh Mao Shan Wang flesh. This bittersweet treat, unlike any other, is packed neatly and carefully in an elegant blue box.

Its core is filled with exceptional Pahang Mao Shan Wang Durian flesh and bits of real Black Winter Truffle. We are not talking about durian puree here, but real creamy pulpy durian flesh that only the truest of durian lovers will appreciate. This variation has a strong distinct earthy fragrance of black truffles, and you most certainly would not want to miss this.

The moment you slice into the pretty mooncake, a pronounced aroma of truffle and durian will fill the room right away. And the smell is AMAZING! This is probably the most lavish mooncake I’ve ever tasted in my life. The mochi-like snowskin is soft and chewy. On the first bite, the burst of durian flavour comes straight through, and a brilliant truffle aroma ensues. It has a lovely bittersweet taste — it’s almost like eating the real fruit itself.

The savoury truffle notes complemented the Musang King flesh to a T, resulting in a rich and complex blend that will leave you wanting more.
