Around Cafe – Glasshouse Ice Cream Cafe in Tampines Reopens

Following its closure for renovation works in February, Around Cafe has opened its doors once again in April. The cafe located just beside The Alps Residences now has more seats available to accommodate a bigger crowd, especially when business picks up at night.

They also boast a wide selection of 24 ice cream flavours, with a single scoop priced at $4.70. An additional $1 is charged for the premium flavours.

I opted for their waffle with 2 scoops ($17.90) – Pistachio and Speculoos, both of which are premium flavours. The waffle was dusted with icing sugar and topped with some Lotus Biscoff crumbs to add a crunch. The option to drizzle some Maple syrup or Chocolate syrup was also available and I went for the former.

While the waffle was crispy on the outside, it was not as fluffy and airy as it looked. Rather, it had more of a cake-like texture on the inside.

The Pistachio ice cream was extremely creamy and had a strong nut flavour which made every bite enjoyable. The Speculoos, on the other hand, was definitely on the sweeter side of things and it got a bit jelak after a few bites.

I also went for a scoop of Maple Granola and added $1 to have it on a cone ($5.70). The ice cream was pleasantly light and the chunks of granola mixed into it made it addictive, leaving me craving for more.

They also offer drinks including coffee, tea, mocktails and even fruity lattes!

Their Mango Latte ($6.90) is layered with mango puree and milk, and finished with some macchiato foam on the top. At first look, I imagined the drink to be a little thick and heavy. To my surprise, it was light and not overly sweet. The chunks of mango also added a nice texture to it.

Around Cafe also has another outlet located in Ang Mo Kio that is open from 6pm to 2am daily.

This glasshouse cafe no longer serves Acai bowls and bakes. With their daily opening hours stretched till 2am, do drop by to satisfy your late night ice cream cravings!
