[JOHOR BAHRU] How many of us have been left disappointed by the food put out by some of the prettiest cafes in JB? We totally get you. However, this cafe actually took us by surprise. Somehow, all the cafes with the name “Atlas” seem to be ticking all the right boxes, yeah? Time to name my future cafe Atlas.

Don’t be fooled by the blinds; push open the door and step into a whole new world of Japanese-Scandinavian feels. The cosy interior cuddles you with its fluffy white concept specially designed by a designer based in Japan. White brick walls, lovely wooden tables and bright smiles – this cafe was off to an excellent start.

The Big Breafest

What could be better than a The Big Breakfast to tempt you out of bed in the morning? You may even build your Big Breakfast from scratch to your liking, gulp. We took turns choosing our favourites, and ended up with scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms, potato salad, pork sausage, grilled tomatoes, hash brown and bacon.

Don’t expect some Gordon Ramsay eggs, but the fluffy, buttery and perfectly-seasoned scrambled eggs are surely enough to melt your hearts. This is truly a hearty plate to combat your morning blues, but we personally prefer our hash browns crispy.

Toast

For something sweet, the Atlas French Toast (RM 21.90) could be just what you’re looking for. You will be presented with 3 slices of brioche buns, topped off with homemade caramelised bananas and fresh fruits. The bananas were caramelised decently, although we were a little puzzled about the banana skin being left on.

White

Mount Austin has no lack of cafes, and you might not be fully convinced why Atlas is the place for you yet. Well, how about this? Atlas Coffee Embassy actually brews coffee using beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters, so rest assured that you will be getting cups of quality here. Put yourself in the good hands of Head Barista JH Yee, the Champion of the Malaysia Barista competition in 2012. Smooth and rich with a nutty aftertaste, the White (Hot) has a reasonable price tag of RM 12.90.

Embark on a happy trip to Taman Mount Austin and you won’t regret making a stopover here! Plus, parking is made convenient with the carpark situated right at the doorstep of Atlas Coffee Embassy. At last, nothing can pull us away from Atlas anymore.
