Within JW Marriott Singapore South Beach, you’ll find many culinary gems tucked away such as Madame Fan. Among them, one of my favourites has to be Beach Road Kitchen. Famed for their buffet spreads of international cuisine, there’s a new type of feast awaiting there and while it’s not quite all-you-can-eat, the BRK Social is sure to leave you with satisfyingly full bellies.

The dining establishment has introduced a brand-new social dining concept that highlights the best of what they have to offer. Aptly named ‘Get Social’, the four-course sharing platter is designed to bring diners together in a classy yet casual setting to share a specially-curated menu at just $48++ per pax, with a minimum of two guests.

*SPECIAL FOR ALL READERS* You can enjoy this set for only $38++!

Their First Impressions — cute way of introducing the appetisers — was definitely good. The smells wafting from the bakery bread basket was enough to whet my appetite. The savoury butter herb toast smelled especially good. The antipasti of guacamole, banana chips and sweet potato crisps were so addictive that I was tempted to pack them home.

I always love a good cheese and charcuterie board and I certainly wasn’t disappointed here — think brie topped with truffle paste and cured meats. The fresh Italian-style mussels were also super tasty and I really had to work on pacing myself, just in time for the serving of the next course.

The Joy of Sharing begins with a creamy Lobster Bisque filled with meaty chunks of Boston Lobster and topped with a crispy Parmesan cracker. I liked how the cheesy aspect of the dish didn’t overpower the bisque and the broth itself was nice and palatable. I couldn’t stop fishing for the lobster ragout and was saddened when I realised I had polished it all off in a heartbeat.

But not to worry because the other two dishes will definitely quell the protein monster in you. Dig into their signature Chilli Crab with homemade mantou that stays piping hot in its stone bowl. The hefty Sri Lankan mud crab revealed generous amounts of sweet flesh that tasted clean and fresh. Make sure to mop up the delicious chilli sauce with the golden buttery rolls!

Not much of a seafood fan? You’ll love the charcoal-grilled spring chicken. Cut through the crispy skin to get to the tender meat underneath. I heeded the suggestion to eat it together with the truffle mashed potatoes and after getting a taste, I could see why. The sauteed Meditteranean vegetables were also well-seasoned and added a nice balance to the whole dish.

Just like my top-choice of carbs, the next course was P&P — pizza and pasta! The crisp crust duo pizza came with two different toppings. The roast duck was beautifully flavoured with hoisin sauce and had a good contrast with the fresh greens and rich cheese. The truffle mushroom (did I mention how in love I am with truffle) boasted lavish amounts of fragrant truffle oil, mushrooms and cheese, emitting a garlicky aroma that gels well with the wood-fired pizza crust.

Introducing another Singaporean favourite, the lobster laksa linguini. The al dente noods were liberally coated in a rich, sweet-spicy laksa homemade broth. Resting atop the yellow pasta is a bright red lobster conveniently halved for us, allowing us to see the juicy meat glistening within the crustacean. Sweet and tender, this dish is one of the best on this menu.

Not to be outdone is the Beef Ragu. Great choice on using pasta shells, the umami-filled sauce that has pooled inside them added waves of flavour with every bite. But the highlight has to be the melt-in-your-mouth tender beef hidden beneath. It was so good that I was stressing whether I should order it a la carte despite almost reaching my eating limit.

There’s always room for dessert, and after such a heavy meal, the healthy but still appealing-looking Sweet Ending was a yummy relief. I was presented with a flaky croissant paired with a swirl of yoghurt soft-serve, fresh berries and crunchy granola. I enjoyed all the different textures from the various components and it was indeed a refreshing and sweet ending to this hearty feast.

Thirsty? It’s never too early for a tipple or two. Refresh yourselves with a light Apple Spritz ($14++ per pax) or the vodka-forward Cherry Fizz ($16++ per pax) with a hint of hibiscus syrup.

BRK Social will be available for dine-in during lunch and dinner, with the exception of 11 February 2021 for dinner and 12 February 2021 for brunch. The Get Social Set is at $48++ per person and a la carte dishes start from $18++. But for the lucky readers of Miss Tamchiak, you get to enjoy all these delectable dishes for $38++ per person for the entire month of February. Don’t miss out!
