beigelhaus - store

New in town, Beigel Haus finds itself in the heart of the CBD. Freshly opened for only around a week, this Muslim-owned establishment is situated right beside the popular KYO Kohee. Sporting an industrial theme, the joint has limited seating, and most customers get their bagels to go.

There are 6 items on both the homemade Schmears and Fills menu. You have an option between a Sesame or Plain Bagel to go with. The Fills menu was rather creative and impressive, given that there were some flavours such The Räkröra and The BURRatta that I have not seen in other bagel stores. Besides the bagels, you can also grab a cup of Joe if you’re in a rush. In fact, as part of their opening promotion, a Schmear-ed bagel and coffee will only set you back $8!

beigelhaus - salmon

A bagel joint staple, and also their bestseller, The Pink Loxy ($16) was my favourite. With your usual suspects of cured salmon, cream cheese and capers, the bagel has an additional apple and fennel salad. Very thinly sliced, the apples provided a sweetness that complemented the flavours well, and a slight crunch at the same time. Another noteworthy point is that the amount of filling was very generous, my bagel was packed with salmon slices.

beigelhaus - burratta

From the Fills menu, I also had The BURRatta ($15). There was both a herb-y spread and Italian basil nestled between the bagel — a creamy goodness. The folks here go one step further by confiting the tomatoes, but I actually would have preferred them to be fresh for that extra textural contrast to the soft burrata. It definitely hit the spot taste-wise though.

beigelhaus - kombu

To have the best of both worlds, I had a go at one of their Schmears — the Kombu Butter Bagel ($6) with a sesame bagel. The generous filling did not stop at their Fills, my bagel had a lavish spread of butter. The umami from the kombu went well with the well-toasted bagels.

The bagels here are relatively larger, and do come with quite a substantial amount of filling. While the prices may be a little steep, that is more than made up for by the portion. If you’re in the area and want a quick fix, do consider supporting this new space!
