New Menu at Blue Lagoon in Superstar Gemini
November 01, 2015

My first cruise experience was with my parents at Superstar Virgo. I can’t remember too much of it but the only thing I remembered was, I ate a lot. Because there was food 24 hours and I was practically eating or in the jacuzzi. Fast forward to now, I was invited to Superstar Gemini a few weeks ago as they will be launching some new dishes onboard their 24 hours Blue Lagoon Restaurant. Even though I am just boarding the cruise to try the food and not travelling around, I am already excited. I think I need to go on a cruise holiday soon.
No open flame is allowed on board so I was quite impressed with the amount of dishes they can cook. The new menu included Chicken Biryani, Chicken satay, Crispy Fish Skin with Salted Egg, Deep Fried Egg Plant, Roti Prata, Kampong Fried Rice, Fish & Chips, Korean Ramen Noodle and many more. More memorable ones include fried fish skin with salted egg yolk and grilled chicken satay. Each crispy fried fish skin is thoroughly coated in salted egg sauce, while the skin maintains its crunch. The chicken satay is is flavourful enough with the peanut sauce.
Another worth mentioning dish is the satay burger with a patty that is flvoured with peanut sauce, and a well done sunny side up. There are of course some hits and misses. The kampong style fried rice and cantonese style ee mee lacks the smoky wok hei flavour. The fish and wedges was a tad dry, and the Kimchi Ramen Noodle was bland and lacks the tang from the kimchi.
You won’t go wrong if you ordered their indian dishes (except for the prata which they don’t make it themselves). The paneer makhni set is a great option. They do true justice to Paneer – the all flavorful sauce being soaked up by the cheese, tender and succulent make it truly delightful. Their chicken biryani had fluffy rice with well marinated meat. Vegetarian options are available too.
Here’s one of the rooms we went to in Superstar Gemini. SuperStar Gemini combines smart new cabins, restaurants and recreational areas with 6,000 square feet of premium duty-free shopping. The vessel sails from Singapore and stops at the beautiful Malaysian ports of Malacca, Pulau Redang, Pulau Tioman, Langkawi, Penang and Kuala Lumpur. You will enjoy the best of both Singapore and Malaysia with our cruise. For more information, visit http://www.starcruises.com/
