Hello guys! I am having a vacation in Melbourne for these 10 days. And for the first half of the trip, I am in Daylesford attending a food photography masterclass with Ewen and Billy. The place is amazing but the bad thing is, the farmhouse I am staying in has no reception at all. So I can only try to surf the net when I am in town centre. So I will be pretty slow in doing a blog post but if you’d like, I do constant updates on my instagram or facebook. So check it out!

I have finally checked out Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak!! Yes, please call me sua-gu. When I was working in Boon Lay a few months ago, I have been dying to try it. So my friends brought me to Boon Lay market on my last day.

We went at around 8pm so the queue was not too long. But I heard that if we were to reach after 10pm, the queue is going to be horrible.

Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak ingredients

Actually the most important thing about eating nasi lemak is the freshness of the ingredients. Everyone prefers sizzling hot chicken wings and steaming plate of rice. And because there is always a queue here, you can ensure that the nasi lemak served to you is always warm.

Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak, chicken set (set B)

They have 2 sets of nasi lemak. Set A is the fish set ($2.50), whereas set B is the chicken set ($3).

I bought a set B dinner, and the chicken was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. To be frank, I didn’t quite like the rice here. It has a pretty mild coconut taste and is too soft and moist for my liking. But the sambal chilli is excellent. Slightly sweet but with a lovely punch.

The fish set comes with 2 fish, ikan bilis and egg but we didn’t order that.

Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak's otah

We also tried otah ($1), which was excellent. It’s not super spicy, and the paste was accented with coconut milk.

A great supper place, if I am at the area. But I won’t specially come back for it.
