Christmas in Singapore will be filled with lots of delicious dining this year. Enchant your guests this Christmas with an intimate dinner. Here are some of my recommendations for this year!

This year, the hotel continues the tradition of the 12 signature sauces to complement the Christmas Turkey. The 12 delicious sauce flavours and dips include Laksa Sauce, Giblet Sauce, Cranberry Sauce BBQ Sauce, Rendang Sauce, Thai Mango Sauce, Satay Sauce, Black Pepper Sauce, Mustard Sauce, Tong Gui Herbal Sauce, Sichuan Sauce and Pineapple Sauce to savour the traditional Christmas Turkey. Takeaway gourmet treats is also available from 15 to 31 December 2011.

I really enjoy PARKROYAL’s Roasted Honey Glazed Ham with Pineapple and Cranberry Sauce at the Chef’s “live” cooking station. The finest quality bone-in ham is marinated, smoked and sliced perfectly. You can also find Roasted Turkey with Sausage Meat, Chestnut and Mushroom Stuffing and Roasted Ribeye on Wagon served with Herbs Sauce and Duck served with Chili and Plum Sauce.

If you are a dessert lover, the christmas cookies will definitely make you drool. Indulge in Christmas Fruit Cake, Christmas Puddings with Brandy sauce, Assorted Christmas Cookies, Ginger Bread as well as the Assorted Log Cakes and Raspberry and Vanilla Cheese Cake. For the children or the young at heart, Santa Clause will be making his rounds on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to distribute goodies to children dining at the Plaza Brasserie.

Then relish the Roasted Hokkaido scallops with Gillardeau oyster crust, braised baby leeks & fennel emulsion, and main course of Braised Knuckle of Berkshire Pork with Glazed Prunes, Nantes Carrots a la Vichy and Spicy Jus.

Available from 1 December 2011 to 1 January 2012, the 4-course Christmas set menu features classics from The Moluccas Room’s a la carte menu such as the Sate Daging Bumbu Bali – Angus beef sate marinated in an aromatic combination of roasted coriander, lime and lemongrass, as well as festive additions such as the Perkedel Jamur Truffle – creamy potato mash encased in crispy truffle-scented fritters and the Burung Puyuh Betutu – quail stuffed with flavorful tumeric-spiced yellow rice accompanied with lightly spiced snake beans.

You can look forward to new log cake flavours, chocolate delights, grand gift hampers, classic roasts and exquisite seafood dishes for takeaway. The items are available at the festive booth located in the hotel’s main lobby between 1 and 26 December 2011.

English Fruit Cake Gift

This year, Area Executive Pastry Chef Hervé Potus’ log cake creations draw inspiration from iconic desserts of famous cities in the world. Patrons can indulge in new flavours such as New York “Cheese Cake,” Paris “Strawberry Macaroons” and Milan “Espresso Nougat.” Chef Potus also gives a modern twist to fruitcakes with the novel English Fruitcake Gift and The Christmas Calendar. The English Fruitcake Gift is covered in icing sugar and looks like a nicely wrapped Christmas present. The Christmas Calendar adds excitement to the Christmas countdown with a chocolate truffle surprise in some of its drawers.

Shangri-La Christmas Book

Children and chocolate connoisseurs can relish in a line up of premium chocolate treats such as Chocolate Bar, Chocolate CD, Santa Ball, Chocolate Puzzle and Chocolate Santa in 80-gram and 130-gram versions, Chocolate Snowman and many more. The Shangri-La Christmas Book with Chocolate Truffles features the mystical snow-capped mountains of Shangri-La adorned with brown sugar snowflakes as the book cover, which opens up to reveal an assortment of chocolate truffles.

For takeaways, you can choose from an array of takeaway festive dishes such as Roasted Smoked Sea Salt Pork Loin, Gratin Lobster Thermidor, Alaskan Crab and Wild Mushroom Lasagne, Boston Lobster as well as Fresh Prawns. Classic sumptuous roasts such as Roasted Christmas Turkey, Virginia Ham Roast, Beef Wellington, Roasted Grain Mustard French Lamb Rack and Roasted Angus Rib Eye with Herbs add to the line up. I don’t know about you, but my Christmas during childhood was mostly spent in Swensen’s and simply eating the colourful Sundaes made me happy. This Christmas, diners are treated to a large variety of Christmas-inspired dishes for both on-premise dining as well as catering for parties and gatherings.

Start your meal with a bowl of hearty Red Vegetable Broth ($8.90) with chicken chunks, toasted bread stick and topped with chopped parsley. For healthy eating, don’t forget to pick up Turkey and Chicken Ham Salad ($12.90), which is a scrumptuous blend of mixed lettuce, mesclun salad, cherry tomato, black olive, turkey breast, chicken ham, lychee salsa and cranberry vinaigrette.

For mains, I enjoyed the Baked Barramundi with Mustard Cream ($16.90). The Grilled Barramundi was made with Mustard Cream, Parmesan Cheese, Chestnut Rice, and Mesclun salad. There is also Roasted NZ Ribeye ($22.90) which is a savoury roasted Ribeye, buttered vegetables, glazed chestnut and potato wedges, topped with brown gravy.

This year’s special, is the 12 Christmas Sundaes in Swensen’s. They include Merri-Mint Macaroon ($10.90), Gingerbread House ($10.90), Festive Minstrel ($9.90), Strawberry Shortcake ($9.90), Tinsel Castle ($8.90), Pa-rum-pam-pum Raisin ($8.90), Chocolate Twinkle ($9.90), Cozy Fireplace ($8.90), Fruit Cake Noel ($8.90), Christmas Nutcracker ($9.90), Frosty Knickerbocker ($10.90) and Tin Roof Sleighride ($8.90).

Nydc has launched a Christmas menu with the Hearty Christmas Roast Platter as the signature dish. This Christmas Platter features chunky strips of succulently grilled Australian marbled sirloin steak; juicy spring chicken marinated overnight and slow roasted with herbs; luscious pork cheese cracker and spicy bratwursts; crispy beer battered onion rings with a bold BBQ sauce and creamy cheese baked Idaho potato gratin served with a bed of fresh salad.
