Daily Ground – 3-in-1 Cafe, Bakery & Gelato Shop in Bukit Timah

A cafe? A bakery? A gelato shop? Well, Daily Ground is all these 3 combined into 1!

Opened just a few months ago by the same people behind Two Bakers and SugarTree Gelato, this 2 storey cafe is just minutes away from Tan Kah Kee MRT Station.

Here, they offer gelato and bakes that include danishes and croissants. Do note that they have monthly specials as well! Unfortunately, the Otah Bolo Bun – which I was most excited about – was no longer available since it was a previous month’s special.

I opted for their Truffle Mushroom Croissant ($5.80). Topped with a dollop of whipped potato, the crisp pastry was light and airy. The portion of filling stuffed inside the croissant was adequate but  I did wish for the truffle taste to be more pronounced.

I also had their Rosti Eggs Benny ($20), which is one of their bestsellers. And, I can totally see why. It’s not easy getting a rosti right and the Daily Ground’s version was quite satisfying.

Layered with slices of thinly shaved ham, the crisp potato pancake was quite a delight to tuck into, especially when paired with the runny egg yolks. The side of greens was also a nice touch.

For dessert, I had a scoop of their refreshing Dauphine Peach & Kaffir Lime Sorbetto ($5.30) with Rosemary Cone ($1.20). The sorbet had light notes of lime and peach and I really appreciated how it wasn’t too icy.

On top of that, the taste of rosemary in the cone was not too overwhelming. Rather, it paired beautifully with the sorbet.

This was hands down, the best way to end my meal. The lovely service from the staff made my experience here enjoyable too!
