It’s almost the time of year for mooncake as the Chinese will be celebrating Mid-Autumn festival (中秋节) on Sept 12. The markets and stores are filled with various brands and forms of mooncake.
Snowskin mooncake is a non-baked mooncake which is commonly eaten cold and fresh. This non-conventional moonlike for the Mid Autumn Festival that has become popular recent years. It is made of glutinous rice flour and has an elastic, chewy and soft skin. I tried to make it 4 years ago and it was definitely not easy. If you don’t have much patience, I suggest you can just buy from the nearby restaurants / hotels.

Eatzi Gourmet (Facebook) has came up with four different types of snow skin mooncakes. If you are an orange lover, Pine Nuts with Bitter Orange is good for you. It is a perfect balance of toasted pine nuts with luscious tingle of bitter orange filling, a good combination of the modern and traditional.

Ultimate combination of hazelnut filling with toasted macadamia nuts, bedded with the sensational “Tudor Gold Truffle”, Hazelnut Macademia flavor is a must try for chocolate lover.

Raspberry Cheese is a mystic combination of raspberries with cream cheese, indulge with diced raspberries bits. It is an acquired taste though, my grandfather finds it weird eating a sourish sweet mooncake.

Robust indulgence of black sesame filling, bedded with the sensational “Tudor Gold Truffle” enveloped with toasted black sesame seed, we like this the most.
