FOMO – 7 Hipster Stalls in Kampung Glam’s First Ever Foodcourt
FOMO is the latest hipster food court in Singapore. It is located in the heart of Kampung Glam. It’s time to make your way to this paradise-themed eatery which has picturesque corners and pretty dishes. You can take pretty OOTDs here too! We tried the food from all 7 eateries, and here’s our take on them.
Within just 5 days of its opening, Kakak Kantang rose to become one of the more popular stores here at FOMO. We recommend visiting before 7pm, which is the time that their dishes start running out. We couldn’t keep our hands off the only 2 dishes here. Try the Chikabom ($6.90 for regular, $9.90 for lunch) which is a fried mashed potato ball stuffed with minced chicken steeped in a chicken soup soto gravy, first. While the kentang absorbed the broth’s essence giving the chicken meat additional “oomph”, the gravy itself was pretty mediocre. The Bombistik($6.90 for regular, $9.90 for lunch) is a kentang ball stuffed with minced beef and dunked in tangy tomato bistik gravy. The amount of minced beef stuffing is generous, and the broth’s flavour was more robust. Remember to add a spoonful of kicap manis (or two)!
Chops! Grill & Sides
ChopS is rapidly dominating the F&B scene with their newest outlet at FOMO. If there’s ever a reason to leave FOMO happy and full, it’s because of the Australian Grain Fed Ribeye Steak ($15.90) recommended by the ever-friendly owner Ezekiel. While I should have had it done medium-rare, the beef retained a slightly fatty, juicy texture even at a medium doneness. The char on the ribeye is fantastic. Complete the ribeye experience with a dollop of black pepper sauce. Every main comes with 2 hot sides or cold salads, but I suggest you pick the cherry tomatoes because the homemade seasoning on it burst forth with umami. Still not enough? Get a Soup Of The Day for just $2.50 (U.P. $2.90) or Bar Soup Bites for $2.90!
If you fancy something lighter, Zamza is the place for you. Currently, there are only 2 dishes on Zamza’s menu but we were recommended the Tokyo Style ‘Creamy’ Chicken Broth Ramen ($10) because its broth was more robust than the ‘clear’ version. Swimming in creamy paitan chicken broth is al-dente ramen noodles topped with chicken char suey, black fungus, goma seeds, baby cabbage as well as chicken and onion oil. We were told that all their ingredients come from Japan, so you are getting a big bang for your buck. The star would have to be the tender char suay (chicken breast). Since we only tried the ‘creamy’ version, do tell us how the ‘clear’ version fares!
The Don Pasta & Pizza
Debuting in the F&B scene is Don Pasta & Pizza helmed by Kenneth, who was previously in the banking industry. Kenneth named the store “Don” as he wanted to sell donburi but decided to revise the menu to include pasta and pizzas. Kudos to you if you noticed all their dishes are named after mobster films – including the popular Al Capone ($13.90) that we had. I especially loved the generous amount of prawns and pacific clams. Elevating the Al Capone experience is the aroma from their delicious homemade laksa paste, which carries a slight heat when eaten with the al dente linguine. Don also allows diners a variety of add-ons, including Foie Gras ($7) and Soft Shell Crab ($4). Do have a go at their pizzas if you’re visiting FOMO with a group of friends!
Mr Wholly has now made FOMO its next home, so come here if you wish to indulge in their unique seafood-in-a-bucket concept. Desire the freedom to choose your seafood? Mr Wholly offers Create Your Own Set Bucket (prices vary) that gives diners control over their choice of seafood, such as Happy Clams ($19), Blur Squid ($20) or Wholly Crab ($30). You can pick your preferred sauce, such as Chilli Kicap, Tom Yum Cream, or even local favourites like Laksa, and Curry. We loved our pairing of crab with aromatic sambal sauce, which features a tantalising whole Vietnam crab that is cooked to perfection. Get down and dirty as you de-shell the crab and dip it in the hot sauce! If you and your loved ones can’t decide on the choice of seafood, opt for the Combo Bucket ($79 for 2-3 pax, $139 for 4-5 pax) which gets you the best of everything! Mr Wholly also offers a twist on our local nasi lemak with the Seafood Nasi lemak Ambeng ($60), which features seafood such as prawns, lobsters, and squid, paired with our all-time favourite nasi lemak rice.

Poke bowls are becoming increasingly ubiquitous in the F&B scene, and FOMO has not been spared of its influence either. Go for the Poke Doke’s Signature Bowl ($14), which consists of mixed white-brown rice, freshly sliced salmon, pineapple, edamame, almonds and onsen egg. Beyond it’s physical appeal, every mouthful carries the flavours a good poke bowl should have. The owner, Greg, recommended us to create our own if we fancied our own twist on our poke bowl. Rest assured that Poke Doke also offers a variety of cooked food, such as beef stew and pesto chicken if you can’t take raw food.

End off the journey at FOMO with Bangkok’s very own mochi desserts that we all love! Imagine biting into a glutinous-chewy exterior to reveal a creamy ice cream core. The calories are worth it. Grab an individual mochi ice cream ($2.30 for classic flavours, $2.60 for premium flavours) that boasts flavours such as milk, melon and even Thai milk tea. I urge you to try their incredibly stunning dessert sets, such as the picturesque Mochi Platter ($7.80) which comes with 3 flavoured mocha of your choice, and an assortment of fresh fruits. Before the mochi melts, get your cameras ready and get snapping!
Marry the vibrant selection of dishes with a beverage or two from Brew Corner. With that said, we will like to emphasize that not all the stalls are halal-certified (or at least, not yet!).
