It’s not my first visit to Frenzlink Cafeteria. I used to work in one of the buildings nearby and I still remember vividly how my ex-boss ‘invite’ me for a meal here two weeks into my job. It wasn’t the most pleasant meal with her to be honest, and that’s the reason why I didn’t go back again. But recently, I came across a very meaningful video of Frenzlink Cafeteria by Another Beautiful Story and decided to revisit this eatery that serves $2 noodles.

$2 noodles? Yes, you heard me right. Do you still remember how much was the canteen food in your school? For me, a bowl of noodles used to cost 50 cents and a plate of nasi lemak in my primary school only costs 70 cents. Gone are the days when noodles are sold at $2, but you know what, Uncle Ah Cai still sells $2 noodles in his eatery!

He wakes up at 3am daily and heads to the coffeeshop to prepare the noodles. There are a total of 8 different noodle s- mee siam, prawn noodles, laksa, wanton noddles, fishball noodles, bak chor mee, mee rebus, lor mee. It’s crazy to see such great variety but I am sure it won the hearts of many office workers so they won’t get tired of eating the same noodles each visit.

I personally like the mee siam and mee rebus most because the sauces are thick and not too sweet. The lor mee is decent as well which comes with small pieces of pork belly, eggs and fried wanton skin. Laksa comes in very lemak gravy that’s mildly spicy. I haven’t tried the wanton mee and bak chor mee before because it’s always sold out by the time I reach there.

It’s only $2, so let’s not be too picky about the taste, shall we?

The $2 Noodle Kopitiam

{The $2 Kopitiam}
Noodles, noodles, noodles.

Today's little story is about 60 year old 'Uncle' Ah Cai who has been in the kopitiam (coffeeshop) noodle trade for the last 2 decades. A rare find in Singapore's CBD, Ah Cai's '$2 kopitiam' makes and serves 8 different kinds of noodles and hasn't raised prices for the last 22 years. It remains at only $2.00 per bowl.

Come with us on this early 3am start, as we follow Uncle Ah Cai's daily routine while he shares with us his kopitiam tale, from opening to closing.

Brings you back to the good old days. Delicious and yet affordable!!
Our recommendation will be the Laksa, it's a 'must try'!
Do drop by for a visit and try the noodles, you'll be spoilt for choice.
