More than 3 years ago, this cafe was known as ‘Blend It Up’. It was renamed ‘FUZE by Blend It Up’ after new owners took over.

Often adding a creative fusion twist to traditional Italian pizzas and pastas, FUZE is popular among corporate organisations who often celebrate special occasions at this casual setting. Fuzefeaturedimage2

Being a thin-crust pizza lover, I fell in love with FUZE’s signature Blend It Up Pizza ($21)’s crispy crust. It almost tasted like a fragrant toasted naan. The ingredients were simple, but what’s interesting was that Chinese cabbage was used instead of the usual peppers or spinach. The feta cheese (a pickled curd cheese) lent a saltiness to the tangy tomato base. Yummy!

I was surprised to see Roasted Pork Belly ($23) in an Italian restaurant. After I placed my order for it, I was informed by the staff that I will have to wait at least 15 minutes for it. I slid my fork against the crackling golden skin, just to hear the crisp, and I was delighted by what I heard. There’s a good ratio of meat, fats and crackling skin. This slab of glorious meat was splendidly marinated and roasted!

The Squid Ink Seafood Linguine ($19) came with adequate seafood (prawn, squid, clams and mussels) and was filling. There were other choices for the base (tomato, aglio olio, alfredo or squid ink) and pasta (penne, linguine or spaghetti), so there is something for everyone. Sitting in the hideous, but delicious, mess was sautéed garlic and red chillies, so you can expect the pasta to be rather garlicky, and armed with a pinch of heat. I liked that the clams were fresh and a little sweet.

Initially, I thought that the food at FUZE was way out of my budget. But guess what! FUZE often has 1-for-1 promotions for main courses during both lunch and dinner! $20++ to $25++ for 2 main courses?? So affordable!

Note that you have to buy a beverage, or you’ll be charged $1 for ice or warm water.

I can’t say more about how remarkable the food is. You’ve got to try it yourself! Be sure to pop by before the 1-for-1 promotion ends. I’m going to bring my friends here for our next birthday celebration!
