Gonpachi Ramen: Shop Entrance

Opened about a month ago, Gonpachi Ramen at Kovan serves delicious bowls of ramen priced affordably below $8. The flavours are unique, and you will also find a variety of side dishes and rice bowls here. Just place your order at the counter before finding a seat, and the staff will bring your order to the table once it is ready.

Gonpachi Ramen: Smoked Duck Chashu Ramen

The Smoked Duck Chashu Ramen ($7.80 nett) comes with 3 slices of smoked duck, bamboo shoots, and half a seasoned egg. The noodles are cooked just right and the broth is light and tasty. It wasn’t difficult to clear the entire bowl. The tender smoked duck, a twist to what we usually see and get, complements the ramen well.

Gonpachi Ramen: 7 Wonders Ramen

Gonpachi Ramen: 7 Wonders Broth

Want to have the best of everything? Go for the Seven Wonder Ramen ($7.80 nett) which comprises 7 types of toppings – a juicy prawn, half a seasoned egg, bamboo shoots, minced meat, corn, black fungus, and a Thai green chilli seafood sauce. Give the bowl a thorough mix before jumping into it! While the fiery punch from the green chilli is distinct, you will also taste a tinge of sweetness from the presence of corn.

Gonpachi Ramen: Pork Belly Ramen

Gonpachi Ramen: Mushroom Ramen

Look forward to sinking your teeth into fatty layers of meat when you order the Miso Kakuni Ramen ($7.80 nett), or go for the healthier Shoyu “Pai Ling” Mushroom Ramen ($7 nett).

Gonpachi Ramen: Side Dishes

For side dishes, we recommend the Green Tea Smoked Duck with Passionfruit Vinaigrette ($4 nett for 5 pieces). Although the meat is a little tough, we like the tangy flavour which really whets our appetite. You might want to consider the Fried Tofu with Togarashi Crumbs ($4 nett) too. The soft and silky tofu is enveloped in a crispy exterior, and each bite-size piece will keep you craving for more.

For the price that we paid, we feel that the standard of food served at Gonpachi Ramen is really quite good. Furthermore, it’s conveniently located within walking distance from Kovan MRT. We will definitely return for their smoked duck chashu ramen!
