Walk down to the basement of TANGS at Tang Plaza and you’ll find yourself in Singapore’s newest hawker enclave — a bright, bustling food hall that smells like roast duck, sizzling prata, and simmering broth all at once.

This new flagship outlet is Hawkers’ Street’s most ambitious yet. It gathers the highest number of Michelin-recognised brands ever assembled under one roof, a bold attempt to distill the chaos of the hawker centre into an air-conditioned, orderly hall in the heart of Orchard Road. For the weary shopper, the office worker on a quick lunch break, or the tourist searching for authenticity without the MRT detour, it offers a curated shortcut through Singapore’s culinary landscape.

Six Michelin-Recognised Debuts on Orchard Road

The marquee names are formidable. Making their Orchard Road debut are Fei Fei Roasted Noodle, Hup Hong Chicken Rice, Loong Kee Yong Tau Fu, Springleaf Prata Place, Tai Seng Fish Soup, and Tai Wah Pork Noodle. Each of these award-winning brands has earned either a Michelin Bib Gourmand or Michelin Plate, a recognition of their consistent culinary excellence.

Fei Fei Roasted Noodle, a Michelin Bib Gourmand winner, is famed for its well-roasted meats and has been a family-run business for over 40 years. Its duck leg with shrimp wanton noodles is the star of the menu, so popular that it often sells out before the day ends. Hup Hong Chicken Rice, another Bib Gourmand stalwart, continues to impress with its juicy poached or roasted chicken and fragrant rice, simmered in rich chicken stock.

Over at Loong Kee Yong Tau Fu, also a Michelin-recognised name, diners can expect a hearty selection of yong tau foo with favourites like crispy fried tau kwa and savoury meatballs. Their generous portions and thoughtful separation of fried and soup-based ingredients make every meal satisfying and well-balanced. Meanwhile, Springleaf Prata Place has built a reputation as a halal-certified favourite for its playful creativity with prata. From the humble kosong to bold creations such as the Murtaburger and Plaster Blaster, Springleaf brings both tradition and innovation to the table, making it a family favourite.

For something comforting, Tai Seng Fish Soup delivers a rich and savoury broth made from fresh fish and vegetables, a recipe that has been perfected over generations. Whether you go for sliced fish, fried fish, or fish head, this Bib Gourmand awardee guarantees a warm and nourishing bowl. Finally, Tai Wah Pork Noodle brings over 80 years of history to Orchard Road. Founded in 1939 at Hill Street, this family-run stall has become a household name in Singapore’s bak chor mee scene, earning a Michelin Bib Gourmand spot for its robust, flavour-packed noodles that continue to win hearts across generations.

Heritage Brands and Local Favourites

Beyond the Michelin names, Hawkers’ Street also showcases a rich variety of heritage brands: Hill Street Hainanese Curry Rice with its creamy coconut-based curry, Hwa Heng Beef Noodle with a 75-year legacy, and Old Teochew Mee Siam and Satay Bee Hoon, where queues never end.

Hill Street Hainanese Curry Rice continues to impress with its aromatic, coconut-rich curry paired with braised pork, pork chops, and fried fish. Hwa Heng Beef Noodle, born by the Odeon Theatre 75 years ago, still offers comforting bowls of beef noodles based on recipes from the 1970s. Old Teochew Mee Siam and Satay Bee Hoon is another crowd-puller, famous for its nutty satay bee hoon and specially concocted mee siam.

Other highlights include Ramen King by a former Santouka chef, authentic Thai food from Thai Dynasty, handmade noodles from Top 1 Home Made Noodle, traditional kopi and kaya toast at Hill Street Coffee Shop, Singapore-inspired banh mi from The Viet Roti, and local delights from Auntie Jessie Rojak. Together, they form a diverse dining landscape that celebrates both innovation and tradition.

A Modern Food Haven on Orchard Road

When I stopped by, I saw tourists peering curiously at plates of curry rice, shoppers tucking into bak chor mee, and office workers slurping down fish soup on their lunch break. It felt like a snapshot of Singapore itself — different people, different tastes, all gathered around the same table. Hawkers’ Street has given our most beloved stalls a new stage, making them accessible at the very heart of Orchard Road. And judging by the queues already forming, it seems Singaporeans are more than ready to pull up a chair.
