I visited Jit Man at 10am on a weekday, and they were already sold out. So I popped by earlier on my second visit. I learnt that the owner’s brother takes over the stall to sell fish soup in the afternoon. That’s a pretty smart move to cut rental costs, and also be able to offer different types of dishes. To my knowledge, Jit Man only sells Lor Mee on the weekends.

The dark brown prawn soup was not the best tasting, as it had an alkaline aftertaste. Fortunately, they were generous with the firm, fresh and sweet prawns, despite the bowl being just $3. The prawn mee here does not have slices of pork.

Nonetheless, this simple bowl of goodness is well loved by residents in Jalan Bukit Merah. I saw so many people enjoying bowls of Jit Man’s prawn noodles as I was ordering mine. Note that I requested no beansprouts in my noodles.

Auntie revealed that many elderly residents actually do not sleep much in the wee hours. Thus, she decided to open her stall in the wee hours to provide prawn noodles for them. Do come before 9am to avoid being disappointed like I was on my first visit!
