World’s First Maltiverse — A Unique Pop-Up Concept by Heineken From 10 to 19 May 2024 at Duxton Road

Heineken invites you to embark on a refreshing limited-time only journey to explore what makes the well-loved brand an undisputed purveyor of Premium Quality beer : Pure Malt. From 10 to 19 May, be transported to unexpectedly refreshing dimensions of food, art and music at the World’s First Maltiverse at Behind the Green Door (97 Duxton Road), where the unique qualities of Pure Malt are brought to life. The free-to-attend event is carefully put together and comprises many elements and interesting segments.
You will discover the transformative qualities of Pure Malt in enhancing the flavours of your favourite food, learn how the life of Malt is used to make Music, and witness the beauty of Malt being beautifully encapsulated in art. Essentially, you will be experiencing first hand, what makes Heinken an unrivalled premium quality beer.
Here are the highlights at the Maltiverse:
1. MALTIVERSE CHEF’S TABLE
Taste Heineken’s one-of-a-kind Pure Malt menu, masterfully crafted by the renowned Chef Stefan Kam, Chef de Cuisine of GOHO by The Proper Concepts Collective. Blending Dutch and Asian culinary roots with expertise honed at some of the world’s finest Michelin-starred restaurants, including Alchemist, and Liberije, Chef Stefan presents a range of dishes where the essence of Pure Malt elevates the flavours, textures, and aromas to new heights.
The first dish to arrive is the Malt Sphere, a Heineken highball creatively reimagined into a sphere, combining refreshing Heineken beer with tangy yuzu juice to tantalize your taste buds. The excitement of popping this invigorating Malt Sphere into my mouth was palpable, and I absolutely loved the burst of flavours it released.
We then progressed to the Maltiverse Doughnut, where the dough, fermented for 24 hours with pure malt, pairs exquisitely with pulled pork marinated in Heineken® beer.. Contrary to what you might expect, it’s not overwhelming at all. In fact, the savory doughnut integrates the flavors beautifully. But that’s not all; there’s also a pure malt-infused BBQ sauce on the side. Brush the bun with this sauce and sprinkle a layer of puffed, toasted malt on top for an irresistible crunch. The malt-infused BBQ sauce enhances the sweetness and tenderness of the pulled pork. Sounds tempting? It absolutely is.
The Infinity Malt Duck, which pays homage to Chef Stefan’s cherished memories of Amsterdam is probably our favourite dish of the evening. The Infinity Malt Duck features a slow-smoked crispy duck brined in Pure Malt, that’s enriched with a Pure Malt Duck glaze, and topped with Malt-seasoned puffed mix on the skin. With a novel take on the classic risotto, Chef Stefan used barley grains instead of rice to create the dish, including spinach and sundried tomatoes. We are pretty sure that you will give this a thumbs up.
And finally, our exciting culinary journey rounded off on a sweet note with the 5D Malt Gelato that showcases Pure Malt in all its glory. Inspired by Heineken®’s “Malting” technique, this dessert features five different textures including the aroma of Pure Malt smoke, a mix of crunchy malt crumble, creamy toasted oats and barley gelato, rich malt salted caramel, and airy puffed malt mix. The gelato is smooth, rich, and just such a treat.
2. STEP INTO REFRESHING NEW REALMS BY METAMO INDUSTRIES
With one sip of Heineken, you’ll be transported to new dimensions through an interactive portal created by local art collective Metamo Industries. Explore and interact the unique and different worlds of Heineken Original, Heineken Silver and Heineken 0.0 .
3. MAKE MUSIC BY BREWING BEER
Dive into Heineken’s brewing process and craft your own track using Heineken’s Pure Malt-powered music maker. By turning Pure Malt into real sounds, you’ll discover how each ingredient plays its part in crafting a perfectly-balanced Heineken.
4. LEARN HOW TO BE A HEINEKEN DRAUGHT MASTER
Behind each pint served is a meticulous pouring ritual to ensure the highest quality and taste. Master the art of the perfect pour with Heineken’s Draught Masters. Take on their Star Pour Challenge in the Pourfection Lab and stand to win exclusive Heineken prizes!
5. SAVOUR A CLASSIC DUTCH BAR SNACK
Have you tried Bitterballen in The Netherlands? Traditionally, they are meaty croquettes made from a thick stew of roux and beef stock, and served with mustard. Chef Stefan introduces his own twist on the classic Dutch Bitterballen at the Maltiverse. His rendition is served with a Pure Malt mustard! Come and discover how the flavours come alive. Proost!
