I am always a big fan of Man Fu Yuan for years. This is one of the rare Chinese restaurants in Singapore that really takes an effort to use quality ingredients and create dishes that is out to impress. I even want to hold my wedding at Intercontinental!

During the media tasting, we tried a few signature items such as the Braised Four Treasures Soup with Crab Meat in “Beijing Style”. Originating from the “Tan Family” style of imperial cuisine that has its roots in the Qing dynasty, the broth is simmered for eight hours with a myriad of ingredients including aged chicken, aged duck, dried scallops and Chinese ham before the four treasures comprising sea cucumber, abalone, fish maw and mushroom are added, resulting in a thick soup rich in flavour and goodness.

The same broth is also featured in the Braised Baby Abalone and Goose Web. Having long been regarded as a prized delicacy in Chinese cuisine, the goose web is braised for three hours in the broth till tender perfection.

I didn’t manage to grab a nice shot of Braised Vermicelli with Crab but this is one dish that you must try. The velvety richness of the vermicelli is stewed in crustacean-flavoured stock.

Fragrant Whole Steamed Chicken is tender soft with a nice subtle and sweet herbal taste. The meat fell off the bone with ease, a deliciously nourishing treat perfect for any occasion.

Other note-worthy dishes include the Baked Prawns with Superior Stock, Sautéed Diced Beef and Sliced Garlic with Black Pepper Sauce, and Deep-fried Pork Ribs with a delightfully addictive salted egg yolk coating.

Classic Man Fu Yuan signature delights not to be missed include Braised Pork Ribs with “Zhen Jiang” Vinegar, Smoked Duck with Chinese Tea Leaf and Brown Sugar and Braised Beef Brisket with Radish.

The 19th anniversary menu will be available daily for lunch from 11.45 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and dinner from 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.
