Enjoy A Feast at Moo Moo Thai Mookata For as Low as $9.95 per pax with Free Ice-Cream!

Like a beautiful love child of BBQ and hotpot, mookata gives us the best of both worlds, Thai-style. Gorge yourselves on a feast of meats, seafood, veggies and sides at Moo Moo Thai Mookata. We made a trip down to their very first outlet located at Geylang East Ave 3 to indulge in their hearty mookata sets, accompanied by their house-made Thai milk tea to wash down a truly satisfying meal.

The pair met when they were serving the army and since then, have always wanted to start a business together that was both “interesting but sustainable at the same time”. The pandemic became the launchpad for the army brothers as the two, who are still holding down their respective full-time jobs, had time to spare.

As they had no culinary backgrounds, they wanted to try for an F&B business that didn’t completely rely on a chef in the kitchen. The idea for mookata came when they were eating the very same thing they are now passionately investing in and after going around and trying different mookata places in Singapore, they were sold and Moo Moo Thai Mookata was born. 

They have also recently opened a second outlet in August this year at 118 Commonwealth Crescent so westside folks will have the chance to savour the goodness that this mookata stall has to offer!

While they do offer a la carte options for you to build your own mookata meal, their sets are truly worth every cent. The Deluxe Set ($64.90) is definitely one to splash out on. Picture all the goods – I’m talking meat, seafood, veggies and an assortment of sides – that Moo Moo Thai Mookata has to offer in one set alone that’s good for up to four pax. 

Amongst the meat, the Thai Royal Pork Chop is something to really look forward to. One of their specialties, the recipe comes from one of their Thai friends who had connections with the Thai royal family and their chefs, so this is the only mookata place here where you can enjoy it to its fullest extent! The staff take great pains to tenderise and marinate each slice of meat to its core. Sink your teeth into the juicy and tender pork chop and enjoy the flavourful mix of spices infused into it. 

Other kinds of meat you can expect that are old-but-gold classics are Signature Pork Belly, Garlic Chicken, Black Pepper Chicken and Marinated Pork Collar.

Seafood is just as much of a treat when it comes to mookata and the Deluxe Set has some of the best on the menu. Grill up the Crayfish and once it’s cooled, tear into the sweet, plump flesh of the crustacean. The Scallops are also 100% worth digging into and the juicy flesh of the shellfish was very satisfying. 

One note-worthy addition in the pile of ocean treasures is the Shrimp Paste. You can choose to cook it in their refreshing soup or plop it right onto the grill – or go both ways and enjoy a wholly different palatable experience!

For a proper well-rounded meal, their basket of veggies include Corn, Enoki Mushroom, Lettuce and Xiao Bai Chye. In other words, the perfect set of ingredients to add into the soup which is not only refreshing but also healthy to boot! Boiled for at least three to four hours with lots of vegetables, the broth is the perfect palate cleanser that pairs wonderfully with the grilled meats.

While we did enjoy our food au naturel as it was, Moo Moo Thai Mookata’s chilli dips just further enhances your meal, with three different types to choose from. We especially loved their homemade original Thai chilli that adds a refreshingly sour tang to the spice.

Eating out with just two pax? The Value Set ($19.90) comes loaded with meat, veggies and a mix of side dishes as well that’s affordable but undoubtedly just as satisfying.

While it’s not offered in the sets, one thing you definitely have to add on that’s yet another specialty is the Signature Pig Intestine ($3.90), a hard-to-find dish that’s not at your regular mookata joint in Singapore. Each one has been thoroughly cleaned and marinated in a myriad of spices, making it flavourful and deliciously chewy. And this is coming from someone who is queasy when it comes to intestines so that’s certainly high praise!
