Now Noodles + – Their Mee Tai Mak with Century Egg is da bomb!

Newly opened for a week, Now Noodles + at Square 2 serves noodles with local and Asian tastes from tried and proven recipes. 

The noodles menu here are mostly stir fried with their homemade rempah. The signature Dry Laksa ($9.80) is a simple dish with beansprouts, fresh prawns and beancurd. The noodles soak up the laksa flavour fully and the sliced cucumber cuts the oiliness. My husband loves the Dry Mee Siam ($9.80) with a distinct tang. You can up the zest quotient with a good squeeze of fresh lime before tucking in. 

If you miss the mee tai mak at The Canteen by Les Amis which was at Shaw Centre, good news for you! Because you can taste the mee tai mak at NOW! I have tried it once before their opening and today, when I went to visit them again, I was surprised because THIS IS DA BOMB!

It turned out really well. The mee tai mak is stir fried with century egg and their homemade belacan. When it reached our table, we were all screaming “很香” and got really excited! The texture is fabulous with excellent wok hei. Their homemade belacan went through many rounds of trials to get it right, it has got the right punch and spiciness. Order this and I am sure you will thank me for it.

Many of us are familiar with Heng Hwa Lor Mee. Here, they have Heng Hwa Noodle Soup ($9.80) which looks like an ordinary clear broth but it has got that strong ginger flavour brimming with chicken and black fungus.

I am not a fan of their Churros ($3.80), to be honest. Because it’s too thin and dense, while I prefer thick, airy and crispy churros. But the dips are impressive, there are three flavours for you to choose from – kaya, orange marmalade and milk tea. I still prefer the kaya as it is soooo smooth and fragrant. Another option is the Malasada ($3.80) – egg-sized balls of yeast dough that are deep-fried in oil and wrapped with kaya.
