Patbingsoo’s newest creation, the Mango Rose Bingsoo, will be sure to capture the hearts of all the hip in ssa deul (Korean slang for youngsters). This Insta-worthy dessert sees bright mango slices intricately placed around shaved ice to form the petals of a beautiful rose! Another surprise lies in the heart of the rose — a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream! The bingsu is then garnished with mint leaves, before it is brought to your table. I really loved how Patbingsoo took an elegant approach in presenting this well-loved shaved ice dessert, even adding a thoughtful tropical twist! The perfectly-cut mango slices were fresh and juicy, and the vanilla ice cream brings everything together to make a creamy and delicious mouthful! The mint leaves were also a nice touch as they made the sweet bingsu more refreshing at the end of a satisfying meal. You have got to try the Mango Rose Bingsoo, and post a photo on Instagram before anyone else does!

*WEEKDAY LUNCH SET*

Feeling the weekday blues and wishing the public holiday will never end? Let Patbingsoo’s affordable weekday lunch sets perk you up! From $9.90++, diners can have 1 Dub Bab Family Set from Dub Bab (Chicken/Beef/Pork), Bibimbap (Beef/Pork) or Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice (Beef/Pork) and 1 soft drink! We went with the all-time classic Bibimbap in a hot stone bowl. The warm fluffy rice with tender strips of meat, seasoned vegetables, special sauce and fried egg hit all the right spots, and placed a smile on all our faces!

In Korean cuisine, kimchi will never go out of style. Besides being an appetiser on its own, you can also find kimchi in Patbingsoo’s must-try new Kimchi Mandu Jjigae ($10.90++ with soft drink)! This dish sees handmade fried kimchi dumplings served in a kimchi stew that is generously topped with tofu, spam, glass noodles and mushrooms. Although they are simple ingredients, the Kimchi Mandu Jjigae shines as a comforting pot of goodness that warms one’s soul! Pro tip: soak the fried dumplings into the kimchi stew so that the savoury and spicy stew seeps into the crispy dumpling skin.

*OTHER GREAT DISHES*

If you crave a change up from the usual Korean fare, the Dynamite Spam ($11.90++) will be sure to rock your world! This innovative dish has slices of spam and nori rice balls topped with a special dynamite sauce that is torched to perfection! Not only is the Dynamite Spam great tasting, it is a feast for the eyes as well. The server uses a flaming torch to char the spam and rice balls right in front of you! Taste-wise, the creamy dynamite sauce, addictive spam, and adorable little rice balls were a perfect match made in heaven! Trust us, you will keep reaching for more!

Affordable and tasty finger food are of paramount importance when we hang out with our friends in a large group. The interesting Chicken Skin ($7.90++) from Patbingsoo ticks all the boxes! You can put your diet on hold as this bite-sized snack involves nacho cheese sauce drizzled on crispy chicken skin and savoury fries. It is the perfect snack for me as it is crispy and fragrant all at once. So sinful, but so good!

The Euljiro Bingsoo bears the striking red of our country, perfect for National Day! This pretty shaved ice dessert contains two different types of cheesecakes, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and Strawberry Overdose! The light, fluffy cheesecake paired well with the slight tartness of the strawberries, and every bite made me grin from ear to ear! The next time you are at Patbingsoo, do order the Euljiro Bingsoo that looks and tastes good!
