Siam Square Mookata

Siam Square Mookata: Menu

I think it is quite obvious that I love eating mookata. I have tried many places but most of them, I didn’t bother writing a blog post about it, either because the service is horrible or the food is nothing fantastic.

Recently, the boyfriend discovered another mookata place in Ang Mo Kio, so we went to give it a try. Honestly, I didn’t have much expectations for mookata anymore. The previous time when we visiting another mookata place in Ang Mo Kio, it left us very unsatisfied because of the lack in service. But he said, no harm trying another mookata stall right. Perhaps it would be different.

Ok, there’s something different. Nope, it’s not the ingredients. Nope, it’s not the marination. It’s the price! SO SO CHEAP! We usually pay $80 or more if we were to visit other mookata places (because of the high rental). But because Siam Square is in a coffeeshop near to Ang Mo Kio Central, the rental is much cheaper and our dinner only costs less than $40!

Siam Square Mookata: The Foods

Siam Square’s first outlet was at Havelock Road, they opened Ang Mo Kio branch last July and subsequently also opened in Eunos, Woodlands and Jurong. They have quite a wide variety of ingredients, priced between $1.80 to $2.80. Pork belly, sliced pork, chicken and even liver only costs $1.80! More expensive items like pork neck, smoked duck, prawns, squid, oysters etc at priced at $2.80. If you are really hungry, they have buffet at $29/pax.

Nothing much to shout about their marination because there are better ones there. But what’s good, is the homemade thai chilli sauces which many places don’t have. Just like the mookata along East Coast Road, they have 3 types of chilli sauce in varying levels of spiciness and can be paired with either seafood or meat. Sorry I only took photos of 2 of the chilli sauces because we were dipping into the third one already. lol. I love the most spicy one which have a good spicy kick and a citrus after taste. Oh ya, their fish paste noodle is also quite interesting, even though I didn’t like the MSG-laden soup.

Oh ya, if you are looking for cheap mookata, there is another one at Blk 153 Serangoon North Ave 1 which also offers cheap ala carte offerings.
