SINGAPORE RESTAURANT WEEK proudly unveils its 9th edition this October. Presented by American Express, this bi-annual gourmet event organised by DiningCity has garnered a strong following with a record breaking 45,000 seats snapped up in its last edition in March 2014.

From 25 October to 2 November, Singapore Restaurant Week will take diners on ‘An Experiential Journey Through Chocolate’. Discerning foodies can look forward to enjoying set gourmet meals at notable restaurants where one or more courses out of their three-course Restaurant Week menu will feature an inventive use of chocolate. Whether you are savouring a ‘Chocolate Beef Cheek Ravioli’ or a ‘63 Degree Egg with Onion Soubise, Smoked Duck Breast and Chocolate and Garlic Soil’, this week will prove that chocolate is not only just for dessert.

In addition, DiningCity will introduce Kids Restaurant Weekend for the very first time on 18 and 19 October. Kids will dine in style with a host of three-course kid’s menus specially designed to tantalise their tastebuds.

I was hosted by Dining City in a mystery food trail where we visited 3 different restaurants participating this year with each restaurant servicing us a course out of the 3-course menu concept of restaurant week.

Our first stop is Bacchanalia where each of us were offered a bowl of Cauliflower Gratin. Even though it looks very plain on picture, but it was rich and creamy with deep fried cauliflower florets, white truffle, cheese foam and gremolata.

We were chauffeured in style in Audi to our next stop at Amarone for our mains – Grilled Sea Bass. The combination of Sicilian dressing, cherry tomatoes, capers and olives makes for a lovely accompaniment to the delicate flavour of sea bass.

The last stop at il cielo wraps up the food trail with a sweet ending. Dolce Ponce is a fresh mouth-watering bittersweet dessert derived from the infamous punch from the city of Livorno, Tuscany. Sink your teeth into three different layers of coffee froth, tantalizing chocolate and rum mousse with sugar cane crumbles dominating the bottom later for a crispy and sweet aftertaste.

Restaurant Week will see more than 100 restaurants participate this year. New dining experiences await at exciting talk-of-the-town establishments such as D’Bell, Amarone, Indo-café, Portico, UNA, Takada, The Bank Bar & Bistro, La Maison Fatien, Wolf, Il Cielo and Becasse which will be joining Singapore Restaurant Week for the very first time. Participating again with newly crafted set menus are hot favourites Garibaldi, Absinthe, The Song of India, Punjab Grill, Ikyu, Il Lido, Stellar at 1-Altitude, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, Bacchanalia, Kiku, Forest, Gunthers, OSO Ristorante, Zafferano, Truffle Gourmet, Violet Oon’s Kitchen, OCF, ETNA Italian Restaurant, Hashi Japanese restaurant, Salt Grill & Sky Bar and many more!
