Diners are always hunting for new and interesting destinations. Located in a former school building of Monk’s Hill Secondary School, Skyve Elementary Bistro & Bar is a new iteration of the former Table 66. With all day dining from breakfast till late, the restaurant serves modern bistro food and whether you are looking for a full meal, a quick bite or to lounge with a refreshing drink any time of day, this is the place.
The restaurant has been inspired from the elements of school life. There are wooden benches and the green menu looks like the class yearbook. In the kitchen, there is Chef Vincent Teng who takes great pride in championing the sous vide technique of cooking. This method involves vacuum sealing and placing food in water baths at predefined temperatures for a long time so as to retain the natural flavour. Some of their signature dishes include the duck confit and egg benedict.

During the launch last week, canepes were served and there were Prawn Cocktail, Tataki of Tuna on Capellini with Citrus Dressing and Salmon Ceviche. Juicy, succulent prawns are a delicacy from the word go for Prawn Cocktail.
Civiche is a perfect recipe for hot days, thin slices of salmon in a citrus marinade was served. Fresh ingredients were what made this dish amazing. Tataki of Tuna on Capellini with Citrus Dressing was refreshing.

We liked the mini burgers too. The beef patty was well marinated and mixed with gherkins, sliced tomatoes, melted cheese and béarnaise sauce, suited for ladies with small stomach. For the vegetarian, you can go for Chargrilled Vegetarian “Beet” Burger.

This chic and modern bistro has a touch of old school elements. Look at this mini biscuits! Gosh, I can’t remember the last time I ate this (but I remembered I would only pick the pink and white icing ones to eat).

Not forgetting the bar which has a specialised cocktails and an extensive wine list with over 70 labels of wine from Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Hoegaarden and Stella Artois on tap.
The restaurant is located from just a 5-10 minutes walk from Newton MRT and with ample parking onsite after 7pm. I will definitely be back to try their dinner or brunch menu.
