Stellar @ 1-Altitude is well-known for its award-winning combination of modern gastronomic cuisine and spectacular views from the 62nd floor. Many have highly raved about their mix-and-match dessert experience, in which, you have a choice of sweets and “dessert art”, and you get to see them prepared right in front of your eyes.

What makes Stellar @ 1-Altitude even more attractive is, Swiss Master Chef Reto Mathis is here from now till 16 April 2016 to celebrate World Gourmet Summit’s 20th Anniversary celebration. Owner of six gastronomic establishments in Switzerland’s St. Moritz on Corviglia, Chef Reto Mathis is also President of the St. Moritz Gourmet Festival, from which the World Gourmet Summit was conceived 20 years ago. He was the first Master Chef to be invited to the inaugural World Gourmet Summit back in 1997 and for this special year, he returns to Singapore as guest chef at hosting venue, Stellar @ 1-Altitude.

Chef Mathis believes in limiting each dish to the usage of between 3 to 4 ingredients to ensure that diners get the best quality dish. He wants to always maintain the taste, texture and fragrance at tip top quality. As simple as it sounds, this is his philosophy towards creating food. With his love in truffle and caviar, this epicurean menu allows diners to get an authentic taste of the strong truffle flavours. It was an amazing experience for Chef Mathis to collaborate with Stellar @ 1-Altitude’s Australian Chef Christopher Millar and he explained that they complement each other really well in the kitchen. With the food standards and expectations being raised even higher, be prepared to see new creations from the kitchen every month such that their menu is always kept “fresh”.

One of Chef Mathis’s specialities is the Reto’s Truffle Pizza, a tarte flambée with fromage blanc and truffles. This dish was so fragrant that it lingers in the air, especially when Chef Mathis was grating the truffles in front of our eyes. The thin crispy crust of the pizza makes it a winning dish among women! Topped with truffle fillings, it isn’t too heavy and definitely hits all the right spots. We felt we could finish the entire pizza alone, and perhaps, even have enough stomach space for another portion! It’s super addictive.

The Wagyu Robespierre with Grana Chips and Truffles contains carpaccio that was perfectly seared and gave a popping of flavours in the mouth. It whets your appetite for more delicious dishes.

The Crispy Panzanella contains octopus and red onions. The balsamic is superb! Not only does the overall dish taste really good, the presentation looks too pretty and you wouldn’t have the heart to consume it until a picture has been taken. We’re guessing that the plate must be designed by a chef as there are spots to contain and separate sauces from each other. From these nitty gritty details, you can tell how much effort the chefs at Stellar @ 1-Altitude put into creating a dish.

Cappucino of Potatoes and Truffles soup is so flavoursome and rich. My only complaint is, the portion is too small. Before we consumed enough to satisfy our tummies, it’s already gone.

There is also the Confit of Ocean Trout Fillet, containing vegetable potpourri and sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. The fillet is so fresh and almost melt-in-your-mouth tender. You get a silky texture, mixed with some crunchiness from the greens and a huge, moist and juicy tomato. This is a perfect combination of texture and flavours!

We ended the meal with a delightful dessert – Chocolate! This dessert consists of tarte, raspberry and yoghurt sherbet and marinated berries. Being huge fans of chocolate, this is simply a sweet indulgence for us. There’s a good balance of sweetness, bitterness and sourness, which totally wrapped up our meal on a very gratifying note.

Stellar @ 1-Altitude boasts great ambience and it can get romantic for couple dates in the evenings. The restaurant offers a magnificent view of Singapore’s skyline. You get a totally different experience dining here for lunch and for dinner. It’s time to open up all your senses and take it everything that Stellar @ 1-Altitude has to offer!
