Sugalight – Ice Cream a Diabetic Loves
Diabetes mellitus, commonly referred to as diabetes, is a long-term illness characterised by a high sugar (or glucose) level in the blood. According to National Health Survey in 2010, the rate of diabetes in Singapore has risen to a 12-year high, with 11.3% of adults aged between 18 and 69 years are diabetic, compared to 8.2% in 2004 and 9% in 1998.
Something that bothered diabetics was the things they had to give up. And ice cream is one them. Nothing says summer like a nice bowl of ice cream. You can now breathe a sigh of relief with the introduction of Sugalight – No Sugar Added Ice Cream. Sugalight contains Xylitol which provides a safe and sweet alternative for your health conscious customers needing to reduce or eliminate sugar in their diets.
Yes, you heard me. There was no Aspartame, no Splenda, no Saccharine, and of course, no sugar in Sugalight Ice Cream. Xylitol is a premium natural sweetener found in corn. It is lower in calories than sugar and does not cause dangerous spikes in blood sugar levels. It has been used as a sweetener in chewing gum for nearly 40 years—and Xylitol is actually a tooth decay preventative, that has been recommended by many dentists.
Now you won’t have to worry about the amount of sugars and calories you are consuming!
Sugalight’s Ice Cream comes in many flavors such as Cappuccino, Plain Valrhona Chocolate, Strawberry Bliss, Creamy Durian, Matcha Green Tea, Fat-free Mango Sorbet, Vanilla Macadamia, Jamaican Rum and Raisin, Baileys Irish Cream etc.
Their yam flvour uses Ube Yam from Philippines. The purple yam is an earthly, healthy and delicious food that is known for its unique and interesting texture, and its beautiful color.
The ice cream here was conceived through intensive in-house research and development, which makes it tastes like a premium, high-fat product. Sweet strawberries are introduced to pure cream and other natural ingredients. Brimming over with real fruit, the true flavor of the strawberries comes shining through.
We also had the Italian Hazelnut, Fat Free Mango Sorbet and Japanese Green Tea. I was hoping to bite to bite some small crunchy pieces of hazelnut but the hazelnut here was rich, creamy and smooth. The shop also blends juicy, tropical mangos into a smooth puree for its mango sorbet, something unique among its flavours.
The durian flavour is definitely worth trying! It is a mixture of D24 and Mao Shan Wang, not too overpowering but it does gives you the real durian taste.
The creation of Pulut Hitam ice cream is the best thing on earth (for me, at least). The pulut hitam ice cream was slightly less sweet than regular ice cream, but it does deliver a true ice cream experience in terms of richness and creaminess.
If you are trying to find a delicious pint of ice cream that has decadent coffee flavors, then you have come to the right place. The Cappuccino ice cream has intensity in both flavors, where the espresso and sweetener tastes balance each other well. It is a simple combination that hits the senses on many levels, and the ice cream has a dense and creamy texture, much better than other non-dairy ice cream desserts.
Because they taste good, people can improve the healthfulness of their diets without having to sacrifice the pleasure of eating sweet foods they enjoy!
Sugalight deliver their ice creams tubs (473ml) right to your doorstep. For purchases above $50, delivery will be free. Otherwise, there will be an additional charge of $15. Only cash will be accepted. Please call them 3 days in advance to order.
