Sunset Way Neighbourhood Centre is situated at the junction of Clementi Road and Sunset Way. Once a peaceful neighbourhood centre, it has undergone a bold transformation to become the latest hot dining spot in the western part of Singapore.

The area now buzzes with new life and vibrancy, with crowds flocking to its trendy cafes, pubs, and restaurants – all in a relaxed, alfresco setting. If you’re a pet lover, you’ve likely been here before. Sunset Way has quietly become a pet haven, offering everything from grooming to clinics and even pet cafes. But foodies, you’ll want to pay attention — because this stretch hides many delightful eateries worth exploring. Here are some of our favourites!

Mariners’ Corner Restaurant

A blast from the past — Mariners’ Corner is a true-blue Hainanese Western gem that has found new life at Sunset Way after leaving its beloved home at Maritime House. The charm? Still very much intact. Stepping in feels like time-travel, with old-school tiled floors, lace tablecloths, and a menu that’s comfortingly familiar.

Steak lovers will be pleased to know that the sizzling plates are still a highlight here. We tried the ribeye, which arrived perfectly medium rare with a side of baked potato and buttered vegetables — simple, hearty, and satisfying. I always go for the black pepper sauce, but they also offer mushroom, BBQ, and garlic shallot sauces to suit your mood. The Braised New Zealand Lamb Shank was fall-off-the-bone tender and full of robust flavour, while the Garlic Butter Prawns with Chicken Chop combo delivered a satisfying surf-and-turf experience.

While hipster cafés often dominate the limelight, Mariners’ Corner proves that sometimes, a taste of nostalgia is exactly what we crave. It’s no surprise that regulars have followed them here — some things are just too good to leave behind.

Five Star Dimsum

Five Star Dimsum has brought traditional Hong Kong flavours to this cosy Clementi corner, and the best part — it’s all handmade. Through the glass window, you can see the chefs expertly folding dumplings and rolling out fresh cheong fun, which already sets it apart.

We started with their signature HK Crispy Shrimp Cheong Fun — a winning combination of silky rice rolls wrapped around crunchy youtiao and juicy prawns, drizzled with a fragrant soy-based sauce. The Steamed Prawn Siew Mai and Crystal Shrimp Dumplings were both generously stuffed and fresh, offering a satisfying bite in every piece. We also loved the Mushroom Buns, which were soft, pillowy, and filled with an earthy umami punch.

Seniors above 60 get 10% off their bill. Spend over $100 and you’ll even get a free mala grilled fish.

Beyond dim sum, Five Star also shines with zi char classics. We paired our dim sum with the Stir Fried Moonlight Hor Fun, which came with a beautiful wok hei and a runny egg yolk on top. For heartier meals, the Claypot Pork Ribs Rice and Mala Chicken promise bold flavours and comforting textures.

Whether it’s a dim sum brunch, a weekday dinner, or supper with friends, Five Star Dimsum is a reliable, satisfying stop in the Sunset Way food trail.

Buttercake N Cream

Tucked away in the quiet enclave of Sunset Way since 2009, Buttercake N Cream has long been a neighbourhood favourite for hearty Western fare and laid-back vibes. With its cheery decor and alfresco seats, it’s the kind of spot you stumble upon and keep returning to — especially for a comforting mid-day escape or easy dinner hangout.

Their menu is filled with familiar classics, and during our visit, we started with the Sautéed Wild Button Mushrooms, served with warm garlic bread — simple, garlicky, and satisfying. For mains, the Seafood Aglio Olio stood out with its generous mix of prawns and squid tossed in a light, spicy olive oil base. But the dish we kept going back to? The Grilled Pork Collar — smoky, juicy, and nicely charred at the edges. It’s a dish that proves simple ingredients, when done well, always deliver.
Buttercake N Cream also offers value-for-money weekday lunch sets at just $13.90, with the option to top up for dessert. Their Buddy Meal and long Happy Hour (11am–7pm with 30% off beers) make it a great spot to wind down after work.

Legacy Seafood

Seafood lovers, this one’s for you. Legacy Seafood prides itself as the go-to destination for zi char and fresh seafood in the West, and judging by the packed tables on weekends, it’s clear they’ve earned that title.

The Claypot Curry Paste Butter Crab is a showstopper. The creamy, spicy curry clings beautifully to each shell, making every bite rich and satisfying. Their signature Chilli Crab is done the classic way — spicy, slightly sweet, and finger-licking good. We also had the Honey Pork Ribs, which were tender and glazed with just the right amount of sweetness — great for kids and adults alike.

To switch things up, we went for their Steamboat Menu, where a whole fresh fish is served alongside a wide selection of vegetables you can pick for yourself. The broth was light yet flavourful, and the fish was incredibly fresh.
Legacy Seafood is ideal for birthdays, gatherings, and family feasts. Come hungry — you’ll want to order everything.

We kicked things off with their signature Mutton Dum Biryani, and it did not disappoint. The basmati rice was fluffy and fragrant, layered with tender, spiced mutton. The Butter Chicken Masala was another standout — creamy, tangy, and rich, with tender chicken chunks that paired perfectly with pillowy naan. Their Tandoori Chicken arrived sizzling and smoky, with charred edges and a juicy interior that left us reaching for more. For something a little different, try the Dragon Chicken — served on a hot plate, this dish had a sweet, tangy glaze that we all love.

Portions here are generous, making it ideal for group dining or indulgent solo feasts. The service is friendly, and the vibe is casual yet welcoming. If you’re craving Indian food in the West, come and give Magic Mirchi Masala a try!

Springleaf Prata Place

When it comes to reimagining the humble prata, Springleaf Prata Place leads the game with their bold, playful creations. More than just a supper staple, Springleaf has transformed prata into a platform for culinary creativity — and it works. We tried the Shak Shiok Ah, a delightful twist on shakshuka that came bubbling hot with crispy prata, a runny egg, tangy tomato sauce, gooey melted cheese, and handmade chicken sausage. It was hearty, flavourful, and perfect for sharing (or not).

Their classic pratas are just as satisfying — crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and made for dunking into thick fish or chicken curry. For something more substantial, don’t miss the Lamb Shank Biryani. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the fragrant rice was cooked with just the right amount of spices. We also loved the Nasi Goreng Kampung, wok-fried with sambal, anchovies, and a beautifully fried egg on top — spicy, smoky, and comforting.

No visit is complete without a cup of teh tarik, foamy and sweet, to wash everything down. Open from breakfast to supper, Springleaf is a place for comfort, creativity, and a whole lot of flavour.

Hurry come with an empty belly! See you at Sunset Way!
