Dosa as taco shells was something I have never imagined. So, when I heard about this Mexican-Indian fusion combination, I knew I had to check it out.

Just a 5-minute walk from one-north MRT station is The Maha Co., co-founded by local rapper Yung Raja and founder of Gorilla Press, Quan Ong.

I had their Crispy Chicken + Cucumber Yoghurt Dosa-Taco ($6.50) that came with a side of tortilla chips and vegetable curry. The fried chicken chunks were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, despite being mixed with cucumber yoghurt. The cucumber yoghurt concoction also proved to be a refreshing touch to balance out the oiliness.

To wash that down, I topped up $4 for a cup of Iced Raja Masala Chai. If you’re a fan of spice in your Masala Chai, this is for you.

As I was there in the morning, I opted for their Breakfast Quesadilla with Coffee ($8) and I do not regret it. Not one bit at all. Although filled with chunks of tender chicken, scrambled eggs and a layer of guacamole, the quesadilla was still light on the palate.

For those who are not big on coffee, Maha Co. also offers their breakfast quesadilla a la carte ($5.50) or with a juice instead ($8). Their breakfast menu is available till 11.15am daily.

A new item on their menu, the Lamb DOSA-dilla ($7.50) had me hooked from the first bite. The juicy and succulent lamb rendang was bursting with flavour. The little squeeze of lime also helped to cut through the heaviness of the hearty rendang sauce.

That, coupled with the creaminess of the guacamole, made for an addictive combination. The filling to Dosa ratio was also just right.

Their Nachos with Chicken Curry Con Carte ($11.90) was loaded with a generous portion of chicken chunks as well. The richness and spice of the curry paired nicely with the crisp nacho chips.

With alcoholic beverages available, this cafe makes for a great place to unwind after a long day at work too!
