Springleaf Prata Place

I enjoy visiting Springleaf Prata Place. For one, this is my childhood place where I will come by for prata after lessons during secondary school. Secondly, boss Gunalan is really good with his pratas – crispy on the outside, while fluffy on the inside. Plus, Guna gets really creative in coming out with new and innovative prata dishes.

Springleaf Prata Place: The Ultimate Murtabak

During Ultimate Hawker Fest 2012, Guna came up with The Ultimate Murtabak. Wrapped with tandoori chicken, Portobello mushrooms and mozzarella cheese, this is one of the best murtabak I have had. Each murtabak is as large as an A4 size paper and you can taste the smoky flavour from the tandoori chicken together with generous sprinkling of mozarella cheese!

Springleaf Prata Place will be presenting their innovation – Prata with poached egg and Indian hollandaise sauce!

On the second year of Ultimate Hawker Fest, Guna came up with MurtaBurger. This is like a mix breed between a mutabak and ramly burger. Basically the chef will wrap the ramly ingredients like lamb patty, cabbage, mayonnaise, Worcestershire sauce etc into a prata dough. When you have a bite, it taste very similar to ramly burger, plus freshly cooked prata.

Springleaf Prata Place: Plaster Blaster

THIS YEAR’s Ultimate Hawker Fest, Guna came up with this dish which makes all of us squeal with excitement. He is going to be doing … *drum rolls* Plaster Blaster – prata with poached egg and Indian hollandaise sauce! Aromatic buttery prata is made ala minute and topped with turkey ham, very runny egg yolk and drizzled with Indian spiced hollandaise sauce. We tried it, we love it. In fact, we love it the most! This dish was inspired by Guna’s travel to Australia. When he came back, he missed the poached egg and *lightbulb* idea came! After many rounds of testing and getting feedback, we are very happy with this version. The combination of prata, poached egg and Indian hollandaise sauce works perfectly! This is one fusion dish you wouldn’t want to miss!
