Christmas is my favourite festival of the year. Perhaps it’s because of the year end sales, perhaps it’s because of the Christmas deco in Orchard Road which gives me a happy feeling, perhaps it’s because of the joy of welcoming a new year, perhaps it’s because I get to see snow (if I travel), perhaps it’s because I get to eat alot of turkey and log cakes, perhaps it’s all of the above reasons!

December is coming and in about a month’s time, we are celebrating Christmas! It’s a time when everything looks whiter, prettier, and exudes more decadence. Every year, The Icing Room will have a Design-It-Yourself Yule Logs for anyone who wants to create a unique log cake! I did it 2 years ago and thanks to The Icing Room, I am doing it again this year!

The mini yule log comes in two different flavours – strawberry or chocolate. The strawberry cake will have a pretty pink cream while the chocolate cake will be wrapped with white cream. I took the chocolate one because my family loves chocolate!

Each DIY set includes a mini log, 5 piping cream and 2 Christmas icing décor for you to DIY a log of your own. Additional festive-themed décor are sold separately.

Since this is a chocolate log cake, I grabbed the cocoa powder and mini oreo which I used for baking to decorate my log cake.

The Christmas candies from NTUC are so cute! So I bought them to decorate the cake too. Creating one small cake needs brainstorming also ok, I wanted to do a Golden Log which coincides with the red & gold decor in Orchard Road this year.

Hence, I also grabbed physalis and strawberries from NTUC. Initially, I wanted to design it with the fruits, but in the end, I felt strawberries were too big for my mini log, so I only used physalis. And I also brought some gold balls from home to decorate my cake!

TA-DEH! My end product! My Golden Log pretty anot? I sticked some mini oreo to the sides and sprinkled some icing sugar to let it have the snowing feel!

And just nice, this year their box is gold too!
