Xin Lu Fishball Noodle

The boy decided to bring me to Mei Ling Hawker Centre one day to eat Sin Kee Famous Chicken Rice and Shi Hui Yuan Hor Fun Specialty. I was so excited but when we reached there, we realized both of them were all closed on Monday!

Feeling so disappointed, we just settled for a quick lunch there. There were only a number of stalls that were opened so we just make do with a bowl of dried mee pok from Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodles.

Never did we realized it was so good! So I went to ask and were told that Xin Lu Teochew Fishball Noodles used to be from Margaret Drive Hawker. Their fishballs were made fresh in the stall and they were real huge and very springy!

The chilli was also handmade by the owner. When mixed with the al dente noodles, it has a balance of sweet, savoury and spicy flavour. The boy took a big mouthful and got choked on the first bite because of the chilli sauce but he just couldn’t stop eating.

One of the good combination of fishball noodles is the home-made Ice Lemon Tea bought diagonally opposite Xin Lu (just beside the steamboat cze char stall). They add a bit of lime juice into the lemon tea and it tasted really good!
