Xin Wang Hong Kong Café Opens Till 4AM!
Where can you find good supper when you are hungry in the middle of the night?
Xin Wang Hong Kong Café, of course!
Do you know, Xin Wang Hong Kong Café is jumping in to join the mid-night crowd as the supper place for all hungry Owls. With 13 out of 16 Xin Wang Hong Kong Café outlets are operating till 4AM daily islandwide, supper-goers need not fret anymore on where to go and what to eat!
Now your next question may be, what’s there to eat at Xin Wang Hong Kong Café?
There are 200 items on the menu for you to choose, comfort food borne from simple recipes characteristic of the typical Hong Kong and Macau cafes, home recipes we grew up on, local Singapore favourites, dim sum and tea-time snacks! The cozy ambience of cushioned seats and seating booths becomes an added reason for diners to lounge around chit-chatting to the background music of retro Chinese hits.
Thanks to Xin Wang Hong Kong Café, I was invited to their Midnight Party last week to try some of their food items!
There are so many classic dim sum items for you to choose from, such as Siew Mai, Beancurd Skin Prawn Roll, Steamed Creamy Custard Bun, Deep Fried Mango ‘N’ Prawn Roll, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Crystal Har Gao Pan-fried Radish Cake, Steamed BBQ Pork Bun, Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean, Deep-fried Wanton etc etc.
Steamed Spare Ribs with Black Bean ($3.80) is one of my favourite dim sum, a must have item for me. Very tender pork ribs in yummy black bean sauce.
Steamed BBQ Pork Bun ($3.50) is fluffy with very sweet char siew fillings.
Deep Fried Mango ‘N’ Prawn Roll ($4.50) is crispy on the outside and has tender shrimp paste on the inside.
There are street favourites of Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Singapore such as:
Lemon Chicken Rice ($8.80) is a flavourful oriental dish with very refreshing lemon sauce! There is also Soya Chicken Rice ($8.80).
I have 3 favourites which I keep eating during the event. One of them is XW Signature Stir-fried Noodles ($8.50) which has a very fragrant wok hei, the noodles are fried with dark sauce which gives it a very sweet ending. Accompanying the noodles are prawns, vegetables and super crunchy ikan bilis! It is unique to see ikan bilis in HK Stir-fried Noodles.
HK Steamed Chinese Sausage ‘N’ Mushroom Bamboo Rice ($7.80) comes with cabbage and very fragrant rice.
If you like western food, try its Fish Fillet Spaghetti ($8.80).
Sichuan Wanton Soup Noodles ($7.80) has a good balance of spicy and sour.
Another favourite of mine is Prawn Egg Hor Fun ($10.80). The portion is large and covered with delicious gravy and fresh prawns.
Come to HK cafe, of course must eat baked rice! There are so many varieties for you to choose from. Cheese Baked Rice with Fish Fillet ($10.50) is a comforter. The melted cheese… oomph….
Even if you just want to have dessert during midnight, your wish is granted with many many dessert choices such as Japanese Rice Mochi with Crushed Peanuts ‘N’ White Sesame ($3.80). It tastes just like muah chee.
When it is cold at night, have a bowl of Peanut Cream with Peanut Glutinous Balls ($4.80). There is also black sesame cream, almond cream and ginger soup for you to choose from.
A pretty bowl of Watermelon ‘N’ Jelly Paradise ($5.50) makes you and me happy. It has black pearls, jelly and longan!
Another favourite for the night – Mango Snow Ice ($6.90)! Ok I have to admit that I am a huge mango fan. Xin Wang has a section on Snow Ice Series, and Mango Snow Ice gave a sweet ending to the meal. It has sweet mango cubes and such a tall snow ice can be shared with friends!
Besides the eating, we also played some games. One of them is the jigsaw puzzle competition where we were divided into groups to piece up the cute Xin Wang puzzle.
With my friends Daniel and Calvin!
With the nuffies, Hui Xian and Jayne!
