Xing Fu Tang (幸福堂) has just opened its first outlet in Singapore at Tampines Century Square! Originating from Taiwan, Xing Fu Tang has established close to a hundred outlets all over the world in less than 2 years!

If you’re a bubble tea fanatic, Xing Fu Tang is one brand you HAVE to try!

Range of Bubble Tea

Famous for its fresh house-made brown sugar pearls, Xing Fu Tang uses 100% natural brown sugar to create the pearls and does not put in any additives, essences, or preservatives. The key ingredients needed to create the dough are starch and Xing Fu Tang’s signature brown sugar which are imported directly from Taiwan. Sounds simple enough? Just you wait!

Xing Fu Tang Dough

Only specially trained workers are allowed to handle the freshly made dough at this station. For 2 to 3 minutes, the worker has to ensure that the final product is neither too moist nor too dry, while the dough is being kneaded into a solid shape. In either scenario, the dough may get jammed up in the pearl making machine.

On top of monitoring the texture of the dough, the thickness of the dough which ultimately affects the size of the pearls is equally as important. Thus, workers kneading the dough have to be extremely skilled and consistent in their technique!

Xing Fu Tang Pearls Stir

After the individual slabs of dough are cut up into boba balls by a machine, the pearls are then stir-fried in a huge wok in front of customers! The traditional process of stir-frying pearls sets Xing Fu Tang apart from its competition! The pearls have a much softer texture than normal pearls and a caramelised fragrance!

Xing Fu Tang 2 Pink Pearls

At the grand opening of Xing Fu Tang, we got to try 7 different boba tea flavours! I loved the sweetness and the viscosity of the Strawberry Boba Milk ($5.90). It had a texture that was thicker than normal Milk Tea, but not smoothie-thick. It also had lovely strawberry bits floating around! On the other hand, the Matcha Boba Milk ($5.90) had an authentic Green Tea flavour and that characteristic bitterness. If you’re looking to satisfy a sweet craving, I will recommend the Strawberry Boba Milk!

Xing Fu Tang Cactus Pearls

If you noticed, the Strawberry Boba Milk and Matcha Boba Milk actually have pink pearls! The only difference is an added ingredient called Pink Cactus powder. The Pink Cactus is a native Taiwan cactus. To get the natural pink colouring, raw flesh of the Pink Cactus is dried and turned into powder before being mixed into the dough.

Xing Fu Tang Lemon Placement

This is Xing Fu Tang’s Damascus Rose Tea with Lemons ($4.90) that’s adorned with lemon slices in a formation that resembles rose petals! Do not be fooled by its light and slightly dull colour. Just let the drink rest for a while and watch the magic happen!

Xing Fu Tang Tea

Ta-da! After the lemon juice is infused into the drink, you can expect an immensely fragrant and aromatic cup of floral iced tea that is not too sweet, and exceptionally refreshing! It’s the perfect drink for a hot and sunny day!

Tea 2

Next up, we had a cup of Grapefruit Green Tea ($5.90). Although equally as refreshing, and fragrant, as the Damascus Rose Tea with Lemons, this was sourer!

Xing Fu Tang White Rabbit Tea

You must be wondering what the adorable bunny perching atop this cup of boba is! The Mango Smoothie and Rabbit Panna Cotta ($6.90) is made from freshly cut and blended mangoes that are golden yellow and extremely sweet! To consume the Rabbit Panna Cotta, simply cover the drink with a cap and shove it through the plastic cover and into the Mango Smoothie!

Xing Fu Tang Signature

And of course, we saved the best for last. Xing Fu Tang’s Signature Brown Sugar Boba Milk is gorgeous! The marble pattern left behind by warm caramelized pearls becomes a piece of art when milk is poured in.

Hand-assembled by Xing Fu Tang staff members as with all the other Boba drinks, the Brown Sugar Boba Milk requires a slightly more elaborate preparation. After milk is added into the cup, a generous dose of brown sugar powder is sprinkled over the milk, before a liberal layer of cream foam is applied and blow-torched.

Unlike other bubble teas that may get too sweet after a while, the Brown Sugar Boba Milk was irresistible from start to finish! It was smooth, creamy, and rich. And I love the soft and chewy pearls that were so flavorful and aromatic.
